Customer Review Summary

Diners most often single out the friendly, welcoming staff, and the food they describe is built around breakfast and lunch dishes made with local ingredients. The Steak and Ale pie with creamy mash is praised as comforting, and the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream is called scrummy by more than one reviewer. Others name the brioche breakfast bab, a breakfast with proper poached eggs and thick cut bacon, a toastie, and a baked camembert salad with cheesy cajun skinny fries. Dog owners report a spacious interior, staff who were lovely to their greyhound, and a dog menu of its own. The main complaint is value. Two reviewers found portions small for the price, and one paid for a breakfast and a small bottle of pink lemonade and thought it expensive. That vegan-adapted breakfast also lacked oat milk and a vegan sausage or bacon, though the chef had a waitress warn about the shared fryer for the hash browns. Another reviewer noted the drinks menu was only written in chalk on the door.

“We came here for breakfast and there was a good choice on the menu. Service was good, food was good and a good location. There's a cute little shop next door which is worth taking a look in too.”

“Nice cafe excellent service and staff very friendly and attentive. The 3 star relates to the cost, its a little on the expensive side for the quantity and also they had ran out of oat milk. I had the breakfast pictured and a small bottle of pink lemonade and it cost £13.95 which i thought was a bit on the expensive side. I have a dairy and egg allergy so turned the veggie breakfast into vegan, the staff were very accommodating, the chef even got a waitress to inform me the hash browns were fried in the same fryer as other stuff which was nice as this very rarely happens. Would've given 5 stars if there was oat milk and a couple more choices on the vegan breakfast (maybe a vegan sausage/vegan bacon) as the quality of the food was really good.”

“Lovely breakfast. Really good, proper poached eggs - fresh and perfectly cooked. Granary toast with real butter and delicious, thick cut bacon. Excellent flat white. I think breakfasts are usually better at home than buying in restaurants or cafes, but this was an exception. High quality, fresh and local ingredients. A delicious breakfast and friendly service.”

“One of our favourite places to visit. The staff are always so welcoming and friendly and the food is delicious, high quality and very nicely presented. We particularly like the spacious atmosphere inside which is perfect for us to bring our greyhound along. The staff are always lovely towards him and we feel very lucky it's dog friendly. He's visited several times and gives it a five paw rating!”

“Nice cafe with large parking and seating, outside area was good for the summer with nice shade and atmosphere. Staff were friendly and food was good overall but portion could of been bigger for the price.”
