About The Bap
The Bap is a Korean restaurant inside the Brunel Centre shopping centre in Swindon. Spice levels run from mild up to 8 degrees of hotness, so each diner can pick how hot their meal comes, and the food is served in paper bowls. The menu is built around bowls, called baps, and soups, with bibimbap and bulgogi among them. Mandu dumplings sit alongside, and the drinks list includes Milkis and Aloe drinks. The self-serve seating area has around 10 tables, with K-pop playing in the background, and dogs are welcome. A stand of Korean snacks is on hand for browsing, and a wall picture shows the Korean alphabet with common phrases.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the baps, rice bowls described as sweet, sour and spicy, with soft but not sticky rice and tender meat in decent portions. Korean fried chicken, mandu dumplings and a chicken katsu soup with noodles and seaweed come up close behind, and one parent says their two children, who usually avoid soup, finished it. Reviewers also mention eight spice levels, plain options for children and an aloe drink among the unusual drinks. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, and a few describe the food as good value. The recurring complaint is portion size. One regular says a chicken and tofu mix came in tiny portions and wasn't worth the money, and another felt part of the meal had been cut off by one unpleasant server. That same reviewer still keeps buying rice there because the other staff are friendly.

“I’ve always liked to buy food here but recently there’s a lady that serves tiny portions of food especially the chicken. I bought the mixture of chicken and tofu today and I feel like what I was served was not worth my money. Maybe you should start weighing your food to make the service fair.”

“I still buy rice in here because the other staff members are very friendly; however, there is one old lady Asian staff who is very rude and unpleasant. I feel like I'm spending 8 pound for a meal it not worthy look like she cut off part the food”

“Great place to mix up your daily meal routine and take a tasty break while shopping in the Brunel Centre. It’s a medium-sized café with a casual, stylish Asian touch. There are nearly 10 tables for guests, a big picture on the wall with the Korean alphabet and common phrases (which is nice to explore with kids), a stand with Korean snacks, and very friendly staff. It is perfectly located in the heart of Swindon's shopping district.I had never tried Korean cuisine before and was concerned about finding non-spicy meals suitable for children. However, there was nothing to worry about! The café offers both spicy and plain but tasty varieties of bowls and soups. We chose the chicken Katsu soup, and it was amazing! The soup came with noodles, chicken breast, and seaweed, and it was hot with a lovely, slightly sweet taste. My kids (aged 5 and 9), who usually don’t like soup, ate it all!All meals are served in paper bowls, making them very convenient for takeaway. In my opinion, this is a healthy alternative to McDonald's and a great opportunity to explore Asian cuisine and try something new. It is excellent for a casual meal out or a takeaway for all ages.”
