About La Braseria

La Braseria is a Mediterranean restaurant in Swansea, set in a rustic bodega room at 28-30 Wind St. The wine list is among the largest in Wales, giving diners a wide choice of bottles, and red and white Rioja are ordered alongside meals. Seafood and steak anchor the kitchen, with calamari and beef medallions among the dishes. The menu is written on a chalk board rather than placed on the tables, and guests choose and order their food at the bar. The restaurant is open daily.

Customer Review Summary

Seafood draws the most praise, with reviewers singling out calamari and describing superb seafood and fresh food that arrives well presented. Close behind are the steak and the beef medallions from the lunch menu, and one diner says the chips are still the star of the show. A bottle of Rioja, including a white one, is called lovely twice, and others mention a very good selection of wines. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly, and several praise the atmosphere. The criticism is specific. One reviewer was surprised to find no menu and having to order at the bar, and noted that meals come without vegetables. Another preferred a table menu to the chalkboard for a companion who is blind in one eye. A longtime visitor says quality and atmosphere have declined in recent years and will not return, and one diner missed patatas bravas and crema catalana. Another, sitting outside in a storm, was disappointed the platter was off but was given a few starters thrown together instead.

“This place holds a lot of memories for me, as my dad used to take me to the Brazz when I was a little girl. It was once a fantastic restaurant under Manuele, and those visits with my parents are moments I’ll always treasure. Sadly, every time I’ve returned in recent years, the experience seems to have declined. It’s heartbreaking to see how far it has fallen from what it once was. The quality, atmosphere, and overall standard just aren’t there anymore, and it now feels like a shadow of the great place it used to be. I’d rather keep the good memories and remember it as it was, because I won’t be returning. There are now many better places to eat in Swansea, and I’d honestly recommend diners look elsewhere.”

“I went for lunch with a good friend, we had the lunch menu. We both had calamari and then beef medallions. It was delicious and fairly priced. We also had a bottle of white rioja which was lovely too. I hadn't been here for ages and it didn't disappoint 🤩”

“Haven’t been to the Bras for years so was worried it wouldn’t be as good as it used to be. However, we needn’t have worried - good service, superb seafood and excellent steak. Lovely bottle of Rioja, too. THE CHIPS are still the star of the show 😉 will definitely return.”

“Lovely food, nice atmosphere, very friendly staff. Very good selection of wines. The only downside is that they don’t do patatas bravas or crema catalana. I would love to go back again 😀”

“If you want to be waited on, it isn't for you. Was surprised to find no menu and have to go to bar to choose and order food. Luckily it wasnt too busy and can imagine if it was, there would have been queues. Meals do not come with any vegetables. Food was hot and tasty, but won't be heading back there again, as overall experience was not good.”
