Quick info
About Cattle & Co Swansea
Cattle & Co Swansea is a barbecue restaurant and smokehouse at 1 York St in Swansea, where meat is marinated in house-made rubs and sauces and cooked in an American smoker. Brisket comes as a platter with chips and brisket gravy. Corn ribs sit on the menu too, and a loaded donut dessert closes the meal for those who want one. Combo platters bring several meats onto one plate, including "the big one," and pork belly appears in one of them. Steaks, ribs and loaded mac & cheese round out the choices. Guests are served at the table by waiting staff, and walk-ins without a reservation are seated.

Customer Review Summary
Brisket is the dish diners praise most, called tender and delicious on the BBQ platter and the big one combo plate, where the pork belly also melted in the mouth. The frickles with brisket gravy, the corn ribs, a flavourful steak and the loaded donut dessert are singled out too. Friendly, attentive, welcoming staff come up repeatedly, with servers praised for answering questions and helping with order changes. The recurring complaint is inconsistent cooking. Steaks arrived burnt in places, and one table ordering medium and medium rare received meat that was underdone, overcooked and rare. One diner found the brisket disappointing, the chips cold and hard, and the chicken on the loaded mac and cheese dry. Another called the pork belly tough, dry and overpriced, with only a little coleslaw as salad. One party was hit with an unannounced service charge and had it refunded after returning, and after hearing honest feedback on burnt steaks, one waiter insisted on taking the cost of a steak off the bill.

“We arrived without a reservation and were treated and seated at a nice table. We ordered the Cattle and Co BBQ Platter and some sides. Our server Rhiannon was extremely helpful in answering our questions and was very courteous, patient and brought our drinks promptly. She was very helpful asking if there was anything else we needed and didn't over do it as some places do. The food arrived in a reasonable cooking time and was warm and tasty. Specifically the brisket, the ribs, and the frickles with the sauce they come with, the brisket gravy was delicious. This is our second visit and we were delighted with the food and service and we will be returning. Thank you”

“My partner and I ordered two steaks cooked the same however, came out quite different. Both burnt in places on the outside and we could still taste this hours later. When asked did we enjoy our steaks and I told the truth, the waiter offered to remove the cost of a steak, I declined as we ate the food however, he insisted. The chef may have been having an off day, I don’t know. Great staff all the same.”

“Overpriced ,tough belly of pork.chips as normal nothing special. Pork was tasty but over cooked and dry.Salad was just a couple of spoonfuls of coleslaw. How much would it cost to put a big salad on the plate ,with fresh ingredients. Over price meal ,£18,plus.”

“Food was decent, the corn ribs were a real standout for me. However, I cant praise the staff enough. They were friendly and attentive the whole visit and it has been a while since I have been to a restaurant with such great service.”
