Customer Review Summary
Diners most frequently single out the baked potatoes as well cooked and available late into the day, with several noting they return for this takeaway option. Close behind are the classic BMT sandwiches, though multiple online orders arrived with missing or incorrect items, including omitted cheese or unwanted ham. Service draws sharp criticism, with reviewers describing staff handling food with single-use gloves after touching multiple surfaces, speaking among themselves in another language while orders waited, and abruptly shutting seating areas before closing. One reviewer reports a staff member with a large beard working near food, while another left due to repeated stomach issues after eating. A few highlight positive interactions with a sandwich artist who offered advice and conversation.

“I visited Subway in the Thistles Shopping Centre and was genuinely shocked at the food hygiene standards I witnessed. A staff member wore the same single-use glove while serving at least four different customers. During that time, they handled utensils, operated the oven, opened and closed the store-room door, touched door handles, collected stock, and then went straight back to preparing food — all without changing gloves. Single-use gloves are supposed to reduce contamination. Here, they were being used in a way that actively spread it. Watching someone touch multiple surfaces around the shop and then go straight back to handling food for customers was alarming and frankly unacceptable. This didn’t look like a one-off lapse. It appeared to be normal practice while I was there, suggesting a serious disregard for even the most basic food hygiene principles. I left with zero confidence in the safety of the food being served. Based on what I observed, I would strongly advise others to think twice before eating here unless they are comfortable with very questionable food handling standards.”

“Ordered a baked potato from them and it was missing the cheese that i orderedon it... I ordered online aswell so I couldn't go back in to fix it. The food I got delivered was good despite part of the order missing.”

“Good jacket Spuds, bought two with basic fillings but well cooked and not burnt. Only recently discovered. Could initially locate anywhere in stirling that did them as take away. Still available coming up to shop closing time on a weekday. Had wanted to try Darnley coffee shop but they were closed before 4pm.”

“went into subway for my lunch after shopping, it wasn’t busy for it being a saturday but the staff that were making the sandwich’s were genuinely just not paying attention round about them. once the member of staff came over he asked what i would like and proceeded to make it however he just put cheese on it without me asking then continued to toast it without asking me. once my sandwich was in the toaster him and the other man that was on the till then proceeded to speak to eachother in another language whilst the timer is going off for my sandwich. overall i found it extremely rude the way they act around customers as if they don’t have a care in the world.”

“Food is good but attention to detail is not there for online orders. I ordered a classic BMT but asked for no ham to be put on in the notes as there is no option to take this off on the app. Admittedly it’s not a massive deal for me but it …”
