About Jannettas Gelateria
Jannettas Gelateria is a family-run ice cream shop at 31 South St in St Andrews, open daily. A flavour wall covers an entire wall from ceiling to floor, and the gelato on it includes flavours like salted white chocolate and cardamom. Samples are available on request, so visitors can taste before they choose. Scoops come with a branded wafer and a choice of toppings. Sorbet and milkshakes are served alongside the gelato, and a few vegan-friendly options are offered, though the gelato shake and other beverages cannot be made vegan. The shop also sells cakes and cookies, and a cookie can be warmed up. Photographs showing the shop's history are displayed throughout the space. Dogs are welcome inside.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return above all for the sheer range of gelato and sorbet flavours, with a flavour wall running from ceiling to floor. One reviewer highly recommends the stracciatella, and another says the coffee scoop is so rich it feels like drinking a perfectly brewed coffee. Belgian brownie appears in two orders, once with salted white chocolate and cardamom and once with mascarpone, cherry and almond. Close behind are hazelnut, wild cherry, salted peanut and chocolate, and the tayberry that one reviewer suggests for local colour. Waffle cones and wafers are called beautifully presented, and the staff are described as friendly and quick, with samples offered to anyone undecided. The main caveat is the queue, which several say stretches out the door at peak hours and in summer, though most call it fast moving. One reviewer found a strawberry ripple tasted only of vanilla, and another notes the gelato shake and other drinks cannot be made vegan. One diner had a cookie warmed up for them.

“Offer gelato, sorbet, and milkshakes. The flavors are so extensive. They have an entire flavor wall that stretches from the ceiling to the floor. This place was amazing and I have come here multiple times during my time in St-Andrews. I highly recommend and would require people to come here as it is a staple.”

“I was searching for "must see" places in town before visiting St Andrews with my husband and this place was suggested, for good reason. On arrival, It looked like there was a long queue, and there was, but we were still in and being served within 10 minutes of joining the queue. There are sooo many choices of ice cream and sorbet flavours that it covers an entire wall, and they all sound incredible. We both opted for a scoop of Stracciatella, and a second different flavour- I can highly recommend the stracciatella. Also, if you are looking for instagram-worthy food, this is your place. The front of the shop is very pretty (also my favourite colour, not that I'm easily swayed), the inside is clean and equally pretty. Each ice cream is presented beautifully with a gorgeous little branded wafer and toppings of your choice. If you're not an Instagram fan, you can just enjoy the beautiful presentation and setting for yourself. For 2 of us, each having 2 scoops, it only came to £10 as well, which is amazing for the quality. Could not recommend highly enough. Don't be put off by any queues- they're fast moving and well worth any wait!”

“Delicious! I chose the salted peanut and chocolate gelato. The chocolate bits were light and gave just a slight taste versus large, heavy frozen chunks of chocolate. I liked that! The waffle cone and water decorating our scoops were almost better than the gelato itself! It was light and airy with a subtle sweetness. I would highly recommend and due to the line waiting, id say many have before me!”

“Really delicious gelato. Loads of flavours. We got the banoffee, coffee and chocolate, chocolate and strawberry ripple. All were amazing! The strawberry ripple did just taste of vanilla though but not sure if the person serving made a mistake. Was still delicious and the set up of the store is great. Worth the wait in the queue. You can also get cakes and cookies in the shop.”

“Line out the door and now I know why. It's a well oiled machine with many friendly, attentive staff cycling through customers. Flavors were rich and plentiful with not just gelato. We also had a cookie and they even warmed it up for us - Joy! I loved the wild cherry but there were lots of delicious flavors . Even managed to grab a booty to enjoy while with the kids”
