Customer Review Summary

Pizza is the draw, with reviewers calling it some of the best they have eaten and praising a crispy base that doesn't bloat and fresh ingredients served piping hot. Named favourites include the Margarita topped with mushroom slices, the Four Seasons, the Marinara and the Mediterranea, which one reviewer recommends. Any pizza can be made gluten free, and nearly all can be made vegetarian or vegan, with staff accommodating allergies and swaps such as vegetarian cheese. Close behind are the sides and sweets: tiramisu, ice cream sandwiches, a garlic dip and a mozzarella and tomato salad, plus a Negroni one reviewer's mother called excellent. Staff are described as friendly and welcoming, and several mention being fitted in at the last minute. One reviewer suggests booking because the inside is small. The one complaint is a pizza that arrived after a long wait with barely any cheese, essentially tomato purée and bread. In another review, a diner phoned the next day about forgotten glasses, and staff offered to post them home to Cambridge.

“Fabulous pizzas served in an atmospheric place, crammed with flavour and style! The service was exceptional, by far the best we’ve had in Southwold. Thank you Alex and your team for looking after us so well. You obviously care deeply about the customer experience and we couldn’t have been more pleased. Plus a bonus to have vegan options!”

“Doh Pizzeria is my favourite thing about Southwold. Although it seems relatively unassuming, a small place tucked away in the high street, Doh boasts excellent pizza, skilled and friendly staff, and a delightfully eclectic atmosphere. I ordered the Margarita with vegetarian cheese (picture 1) and mushrooms instead of basil, my mum ordered the Marinara with extra vegetarian cheese, and my dad ordered the Four Seasons. All our pizzas were delicious, with my Margarita being absolutely covered in mushroom slices - usually you're lucky to get five or six halves! I want to shout out Wels (hope I spelt that right!) our waitress, who was vegetarian herself and so fully equipped to talk about the range and quality of vegetarian pizzas available. And there really was a range - nearly every pizza was vegetarian or could be made vegetarian on request, and the staff are very accommodating with customising pizzas to suit allergies, dietary requirements, or just preferences. When I asked for no basil on my pizza, Wels even clarified that the vegetarian cheese had basil in it in case I was allergic. Also, my mother says they make an excellent Negroni (picture 2), and she's very experienced in the land of negronis! It's also nice that the staff are allowed to wear their own jewellery and accessories - it really contributes to the homely family business vibe. Just a quick note that the mozzarella (which is their main cheese for pizzas) contains rennet, which is ground up cow guts and so not vegetarian. The staff are totally fine with switching it out for vegetarian cheese, just make sure you ask when you order if you're vegetarian!! Overall, I would absolutely come here again and recommend it to anyone looking for delicious pizza in Suffolk: Doh Pizzeria saved a day out which frankly had gone south quickly, and it is a lovely place.”

“I can't recommend Doh Pizzeria highly enough. We were visiting Southwold for the first time and were looking for somewhere casual for dinner when we came across this lovely little restaurant. It was clearly very popular, with a queue outside, and we assumed we'd need a booking. However, the staff went out of their way to rearrange a few things and find us a table that would otherwise have been a no-show. It was such a kind gesture and set the tone for the rest of the evening. We were looked after by two lovely ladies who were genuinely warm, smiling and attentive throughout our meal. The pizzas were absolutely delicious, and we shared one of the best tiramisus we've had. To top it all off, the restaurant has a beautiful hidden courtyard, which made for a fantastic atmosphere. What really sets Doh Pizzeria apart, though, is the exceptional customer service. The next day, after we'd returned home to Cambridge, my wife realised she'd left her glasses at the restaurant. I called, and another incredibly friendly member of staff confirmed they had found them and immediately offered to post them back to us. It's these kinds of thoughtful gestures and genuine willingness to help that make a place truly special. Great food, a lovely setting, and a team that consistently goes above and beyond with a positive attitude. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Southwold. Highly recommended!”

“After waiting around 40 minutes, I had really high expectations for this pizza place, but unfortunately I was very disappointed For £12, I expected a decent amount of chesse, but the pizza arrived with barely any cheese at all — it was essentially tomato purée and bread. Considering the price and the wait, I expected a lot better.”

“Possibly the best pizza I've ever had. Crispy base, doesnt bloat, plus the added bonus of being able book a table in advance makes this one of our favourite restaurants in Southwold.”
