About The Black Dog Deli Walberswick
The Black Dog Deli Walberswick is a small deli in Southwold, on Walberswick. The counter carries a deli selection with wines and preserves, alongside flat white coffee and pastries such as pistachio cannoli. Quiche comes in several fillings, including goats cheese, broccoli and caramelised red onion, and quiche picnic boxes are packed with salad. Home-made biscuits for dogs sit on the counter too, so dogs get a treat of their own. Orders are placed at the counter, and a wait is usual during the morning rush.

“We love this shop. Delicious coffee, pastries, matcha, yummy fresh salads and warm baked bread. The best addition to Walberswick and very friendly staff. Our dogs like the biscuits too.”

“This cute little deli is fabulous! The coffee was amazing, and whilst I’d like to have tried all the pastries I can only speak for the spinach and feta roll which was super tasty. The deli selection looked great as well. Pistachio cannoli with a brandy-snap esque biscuit, delicious if not maybe a bit too sweet for me! Staff were super friendly and chatty and the whole setup is super cute. Definitely the most popular place in town for the morning rush and post swim or run.”

“Very tasty quiches, a good selection of baked goods as well as wines, preserves etc. Some outside seating with a small canopy. No toilets”

“Out of food for lunch before 1pm. Cannoli was off. Run out of salad for salad boxes, for the price it was not adequate. I've had excellent sandwiches in lovely deli places and happy to pay for taste and quality ingredients...but for £9, mine did not taste good. It was salted beef with some soggy gherkin, a small amount of mustard and some sliced tomato. The bread was nice. We waited quite a while for our order. Have visited in the past several times and looked forward to getting some tasty food for the beach, but the standard of this particular outfit has taken a nose-dive. Goodness knows how they'll cope in the height of summer.”

“Gorgeous deli but crikey it is super busy. Bought some delicious pastries and a flat white but had to wait outside for 20mins for one flat white! The rest of the food looked gorgeous but not sure i'd return 😕”

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return for the quiche, with the goats cheese, broccoli and caramelised red onion version praised for crisp pastry and a divine filling, and a quiche picnic box with salad called a bargain. Close behind are the sausage rolls, described as fantastic, and the flat white, which several call wonderful and full of flavour. Others single out a spinach and feta roll, a Portuguese tart, and pistachio cannoli that one found a bit too sweet, along with matcha, fresh salads and warm baked bread. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, and a few mention dogs being handed home made biscuits. The main complaint is pace and supply. One reviewer waited outside for 20 minutes for a single flat white, and another found the deli out of lunch food before 1pm, the cannoli off, and a salted beef sandwich with soggy gherkin that did not taste good. Reviewers also note there is no indoor seating and no toilets, only some outside seating under a small canopy. One reviewer shared a quiche and took the sausage roll home for another day.
