Quick info
About Bharawan Da Dhaba
Bharawan Da Dhaba is an Indian takeaway in Smethwick, on High St at number 269, serving an all-vegetarian menu of dhaba-style Punjabi food. The Amritsari kulcha arrives with chole, yogurt and pickled onion, and its filling includes potato and cauliflower with a knob of butter. Sarson ka saag comes with makki roti for anyone after a Punjabi plate built around greens and flatbread. The noodle burger takes a different route, pairing soy chow mein with paneer and aloo tikki. A family runs the kitchen, and a few small tables inside provide limited seating for those who stay to eat.

Customer Review Summary
Amritsari kulcha is what most reviewers come for, described as freshly made with a generous stuffing and melting butter, and one notes a cauliflower filling alongside the usual potato. Close behind are the chole bhature, which one diner says tasted just like Delhi, plus the paneer kulcha, lacha parantha, and sarson ka saag with makki roti. Others praise the chicken karahi with well-balanced spices, hot soft naan, and the soya methi, called melt in the mouth. Reviewers describe the food as authentic Punjabi, fresh and hot, served by a friendly family-run team, with a few noting the quick service. The caveats are practical: seating is limited to a few small tables, parking is not easy to find, and one reviewer found the chickpeas just ok. The one critical review found the noodle burger and pani puri good but overpriced, with a small piece of paneer and aloo tikki in the burger and a charge per single gol gappa, and had no kulcha available on that visit. One reviewer closes on the kulcha arriving with butter still melting on top.

“Was craving typical dhaba style food and this place did not disappoint. Had Amritsari kulcha and highly recommend it. Also had Choley Bhature and Paneer Kulcha and they were quite good. Potion size is good and filling, wanted to try more but will visit again some other time .”

“We tried their amritsari kulcha and aaloo paratha. Quality and taste were both very good. Kulcha was different as normally its only potato filling, we've tried a couple of other places... this one had cauliflower in it too. Chickpeas were just ok. Parking is not easy to find. Would definitely try other items from the menu too.”

“I recently had a meal at a desi restaurant, and the experience was excellent. The food tasted just like homemade—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The chicken karahi was especially delicious, with well-balanced spices—not too spicy and not bland. The naan was served hot and soft, which made the meal even more enjoyable.”

“Was suggested to go to this place as partner was in the mood for kulca and pani puri. They didn’t have any kulca so got an India wale noodle burger and pani puri which both were good overall. But not worth £6 per dish. I would rather it higher but charging a quid each per single gol ghappa which takes seconds to prepare is a bit much and the noodle burger is just some soy chow mein with a small piece of paneer and small aloo tiki should be £3 at most”
