About Amigos
Amigos is a Mexican restaurant at 617 London Rd in Sheffield, set across a split level with tiled floors. The kitchen cooks traditional Mexican dishes and grill plates, and lamb barbecoa is one of the lamb options. Beef chilli nachos come with cheese sauce, and salsa dips and sauces are served alongside the food. A pizza oven turns out pizza as well, which gives the menu a second direction beyond Mexican cooking. The restaurant is BYOB and serves no alcohol, so guests bring their own drinks to the table. Amigos has moved from its previous location to smaller premises.

Customer Review Summary
Nachos are the dish reviewers mention most, from a beef chilli version shared as a starter to the cheese sauce one regular still rates highly, though another diner called them the only nice thing on the table. Pizza comes close behind, with one group collecting a large order and enjoying the salsa dips and sauces served with it. The lamb barbecoa, grilled lamb chops, shredded beef enchilada and chicken soup also earn positive mentions, along with huge portions and friendly staff. The complaints are varied. A few describe slow service, a sticky table, filthy floors or an untidy dining room, and one reports no tissue paper in the toilet and a pre-booked table going to later arrivals. Others note the smaller new premises, loud music, pizza-oven dishes being unavailable, and a BYOB policy with no alcohol. One reviewer says the pomegranate juice tasted freshly squeezed.

“It was amazing like always. The new location near ponsford smaller then the original location. But the food was still delicious. They still have the best cheese sauce. I loved the nachos.”

“Lamb barbecoa was excellent, pizza was very nice. Pomegranate juice tasted freshly-squeezed. Service a bit slow, table a bit sticky, but not extreme in either case. Would come again”

“Wouldn’t recommend this place. Food is not tasty, and service was shocking. Toilet don’t have any tissue paper, and service was really slow. We were told we couldn’t sit on a particular table due to it being booked in advance, however few people came after us also didn’t book in advance and were given that table. Not fair at all and food was not worth it. Nachos were only nice thing. To say this place is supposed to be Mexican I wouldn’t say that, id say it’s far from that”

“Food is delicious. Decor is very disappointing compared to the previous location, really impacts the atmosphere. Unfortunately the floors filthy. Some items not available to order a little disappointing, anything required the Pizza oven was not option, lame because the pizza oven was the main attraction to look at, a little bit of a tease. Hope to return back or maybe just order to take away in future?”

“We did a big order and for collection to take back and eat at the Brothers Arms pub, 1 min drive away. Everyone was saying how much they loved the pizzas, we loved the mexican salsa dips and sauces that came with them too. Very helpful staff, would certainly go there again. There was plenty of space to sit inside too and a nice calm quiet atmosphere.”
