About The Black Cat Coffee House
On Welles St in Sandbach, The Black Cat Coffee House is a coffee shop run by a family, with the owner operating it directly. The coffee comes from Hasbean, and lattes are served with art on top. Homemade focaccia anchors the food, alongside paninis, soups and sandwiches. The cakes are homemade too, and the selection changes day to day. Milkshakes are made with Cheshire Farm Ice Cream, and oat milk is available for drinks. Guests pay at the end of the visit, and contactless is accepted.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return for the coffee above all, describing espresso and lattes with art on top as smooth, strong and made properly, and one calls it the best in Sandbach. Close behind are the homemade cakes, with a carrot cake and its buttercream topping singled out, followed by paninis with a coffee as a favourite pairing, plus soups and sandwiches. In hot weather, one reviewer praises milkshakes made with Cheshire farm ice cream, and oat milk is mentioned as an option. The owners are often called friendly and welcoming, and one notes they find time for a chat even when rushed. The caveat is service, which comes up in two of the lower reviews. One describes a grumpy front of house that soured the coffee. Another says crepes on the menu were refused because of the heat, the toilet question was answered with "Upstairs" without eye contact, and a goodbye went unanswered. Another reviewer likes that payment comes only at the end, so there is no pressure to leave.

“Nice cakes (didnt have coffee so cant comment) but was not impressed by the service. Crepes were on the menu on display but the lady said she didnt want to cook them because of the weather being hot. I understand the heat, but it was 23 degrees at about 11am. I wonder what the minimum temperature is? I asked her where the toilets were as she was sat in the front window reading her book, and was cut off and was given 'Upstairs' without even looking up from what she was reading. I said goodbye as we left and was ignored. I felt the service could have been friendlier”

“Stopped here on a long journey. Amazing coffee, without pretence beautifully crafted with care. As a coffee boffin I would highly recommend. I didn’t get to enjoy anything off the menu but the drinks were delicious and the space fresh and bijoux.”

“The best coffee in Sandbach, but let down by the grumpy front of house attitude. In the hospitality industry that personal touch can make all the difference to the overall experience. In the case the coffee was soured by the lack of positivity.”
