Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the friendly, attentive staff, who several say stay pleasant however busy the pub gets. One family describes a drink on the house for a birthday celebration, and another a staff member who made an effort with their young children at bingo night. Food draws steady praise too, led by a Sunday Roast with a good portion size, along with breakfast, small plates and good Guinness, though one reviewer notes a limited menu. Guests who stayed describe clean, bright rooms and harbour views, and one suggests room 7. Another calls the rooms basic and warns of extremely steep stairs for anyone with luggage. The complaints are specific. One group says they arrived after a long drive to find only two of three booked rooms honoured, with the manager gone, and thought the rooms expensive for what they paid. A breakfast diner had to query an overcharged bill, which was refunded quickly.

“Fantastic staff- especially Faith, Sam and Nathan, who helped us celebrate our dad’s birthday where nothing was too much trouble. Bar staff were also lovely and we really appreciated your kind gesture of a drink on the house for the birthday boy! Food was really nice and reasonably priced. Lovely pub! We will be back when in St Ives again. Thank you for a lovely time and fantastic service.”

“I recently visited for a Sunday Roast and a Breakfast on another day. The sunday roast was excellent, good portion size and was good quality. Friendly bar and waiting staff and a good atmosphere inside. I visited again for Breakfast and on Mondays and Tuesdays they do an offer which is Buy 1 Breakfast get another for half price. The food was good once again however we had to query our bill as we was overcharged. It was quickly refunded and dealt with but this stops me from giving it 5 stars. One positive thing I would add, is that walking by on another night, I saw someone eating Fish and Chips which looked big in portion size and looked great but sadly I can't comment on the taste as I didn't manage to make it back to try it, it's now on my list for when I next return to St Ives!”
