About Pickles Farms
Pickles Farms is a deli and sandwich bar at 13 Barrow St in Saint Helens, where breakfasts are built from scratch from a choice of combinations. Sandwiches and barms are customisable too, and the menu includes a honey chilli chicken on brown barm. The counter also carries pork pies for a savoury lunch, and a jammy dodger blondie sits among the sweet bakes and traybakes. The menu covers a wide variety of items, so there is plenty to choose from whether you come for breakfast or lunch. The shop is open Monday to Saturday, daytime only, and closed Sundays. Peak times such as Saturdays usually mean a wait to be served.

Customer Review Summary
Sandwiches and barms draw the most praise, from a honey chilli chicken on brown barm to a monster bacon sausage and egg barm with the yolk running, plus one reviewer's favourite legend sandwich. Reviewers describe big portions, fresh and customisable fillings, and breakfasts made with good quality ingredients, though one missed mushrooms. Friendly staff come up repeatedly, and one diner praised a buffet made at short notice. Sweet extras get mixed notes: one recommends a jammy dodger blondie, while another found the rocky road crumbly and the cornflake cake too sweet. The complaints are real. One Saturday visitor left unserved while staff handled takeaways and online orders, and another got a fridge cold chicken tikka masala rice box without its naan, plus half full lattes. A just eat order reportedly arrived burned, including an egg ordered runny, with hot cooked food packed on top of raw cold items.

“Seen it when passing looked worth a visit, I took a jar of bartons pickles and beetroot from the shelf and was ready to order some cooked meats which looked real quality. It was Saturday and the staff were busy doing takeaways and online orders so after waiting a bit with no chance of getting served I replaced the jars and left”

“Do yourselves a favour, instead of paying a tenner for a sandwich at subway, go here instead. The ladies are always kind and helpful, the sandwiches are fresh and tasty (very customisable) and if you like jammy dodgers, try a jammy dodger blondie. Thank me later.”

“Usually a good service and food is nice BUT I went in recently and ordered; Winter warmer deal (soup & crust) £2.50. A ripple chocolate bar 75p and a packet of walkers crisps.. £4.80 I paid. So £1.55 for a standard packet of crisps. Shocking price considering you’re always busy and don’t need to upcharge.”

“Swing and a miss. We’ve seen the boards when walking past and always fancied it so we popped in asking for the “chicken tikka masala hot rice box with onion bhaji mix, peppers and a grilled naan” that was on the board in the middle of the street. My other half asked for 2 of those. The 2 young ladies serving us seemed completely oblivious to what we were on about. Due to the shop being busy, I stepped outside to wait. After a while, my other half came out to tell me that she had to repeat the order and describe it to them, then found we only got 1 serving instead of 2. We managed to get another one and paid again. We got 2 lattes with it. The lattes were half full, our “hot” rice box were fridge cold, didn’t have the peppers or the naan in. What bit of latte we got was not good quality unfortunately. Maybe we’ll try again one day but this wasn’t a good first impression. The food was alright after heating through at home.”
