About Rugby Central
Rugby Central is a shopping mall in the town centre of Rugby, with its address on Market Mall. The centre groups high-street chain stores such as The Works and Superdrug, alongside CeX and a fabric shop. A shoe repair and key cutting counter handles everyday jobs, and food outlets on site cover meals between errands. Drivers can use the on-site parking, and the centre is walk-in, with no booking involved. Asda is also among the shops that shoppers can visit here.

What reviewers say
Reviewers most often mention vacant empty units, card shops, Strikes Bar and Asda.
Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often describe a shopping centre in decline, with vacant, empty or boarded-up units and little footfall after the larger name shops moved to the edge of town or closed. Several call it depressing, run down or mostly abandoned, and a couple repeat what they heard from shopkeepers, that the owner wants everyone out. Those who find something to do there point to The Works, Superdrug, CeX, card shops and charity shops, while others mention the fabric shop, Asda, a shoe repair and key cutting service, and Strikes Bar. One reviewer found the high roof and quiet a pretty, charming change, and another says it is clean. A smaller group calls it fine for everyday shopping. One reviewer reports security approaching shoppers with shoplifting accusations and stopping anyone taking photos or video, and that same reviewer prefers Elliotts Field. Another advises against going up to Northway Mall, and one reviewer's slow Sunday walk still turned up some good shops and life.

“Rugby Central Shopping Centre is honestly awful. What should be a busy, vibrant shopping centre feels more like a ghost town. Almost every other shop seems to be closed, empty or boarded up, and there’s barely anyone around. Walking through it feels incredibly depressing. There’s very little atmosphere, hardly any footfall and not much reason to actually visit. It’s difficult to understand how a shopping centre in the middle of Rugby has been allowed to decline to this extent. The whole place feels neglected and completely lacking in investment. A shopping centre should feel lively, welcoming and somewhere people actually want to spend time — Rugby Central currently feels like the complete opposite.”

“Boring, run down and 50% empty, I feel sorry for the shops that are left surviving. The town is in limbo regarding the shopping centre as all the big named and well supported shops have gone. So many rumours around what's happening to the site that nobody really knows. It's sad really as the town used be thriving as a market town that's now all but gone too. The town council are trying to do what's best for the site, but it's the owners that are dragging their feet.”

“Nice and clean but our first visit there and realised it seems to be very quiet and not all the shops you would expect in a town of this size.We all know a lot of businesses have closed county wide and this is result shopping centres with half the shops closed”

“I often have a very poor experience here. A lot of the shops you want are now out of town leaving the place feeling mostly abandoned. Security will often approach random shoppers and accuse them of shoplifting with no real reason, and anyone caught using a camera or phone to take photos or video will also be approached and dealt with by security. Best to look elsewhere. Elliotts field is much better.”

“Depressingly sparse shopping centre these days in my home town. Great if you're looking to browse at vacant and empty shops or want a card shop or shoe repair / key cut.”
