About Kew Gardens Hotel

Kew Gardens Hotel is a pub and hotel in Richmond on Sandycombe Rd, set in a Victorian-style building with chandeliers, mouldings and velvet settees. Guest rooms come with Nespresso machines, so a coffee can be made without leaving the room. The vintage bar serves craft cocktails. The kitchen works from a 30-dish menu and offers either pre-fixe or à la carte ordering, and English breakfast is served for hotel guests and visitors alike. The garden is used to host events and gatherings, which gives groups a space beyond the bar and dining room.

“Love love love this pub+hotel so much I've stayed there four times. Great craft cocktails at the vintage bar! Great food from the kitchen with either pre-fixe or a la carte options. While not new, the entire building, including guest rooms, has a Victorian charm about it: chandeliers, dentated mouldings, garden dining, velvet setees, the works! It's so cozy, unique, and comfortable it's my faithful companion for repeat visits. Plus the Kew Gardens neighborhood is splendid!”

“On 2nd August 2026 we celebrated my granddaughter's christening here. It was a last minute booking, 3 days before and what a brilliant job they did. James was so helpful in organising the garden space for 25 people, including children on this Sunday lunchtime/afternoon. The chef was so fantastic at sorting out a buffet selection. Everything was perfect. The Morgan family were so happy to host this special occasion here and all the guests loved it. A big thank you to all the staff. I would highly recommend this lovely hotel.”

“Delicious English Breakfast. Freshly cooked. I would have rated the rooms 5/5 if it had an AC and easy accessibility to connect charger or phones or Laptops. Note, this is a classic place to stay and there are no lift. You need to carry your luggages on the stairs! Otherwise, everything else was perfect!”

“We stayed here for 4 nights in early August with my father, and it was an excellent stay. The rooms are lovely and the staff are very friendly. It was quite hot during our visit, but thankfully there was a portable AC unit in our room, …”

“Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. From the moment I entered the room, it was obvious that cleanliness and maintenance were not priorities. The carpet was stained, the walls were marked, and there was a strong, unpleasant smell that seemed impossible to get rid of. The bed looked old and uncomfortable, and the sheets did not appear to be properly cleaned. The bathroom was even worse. There was mold around the shower, the sink was dirty, and the towels were worn out and smelled strange. The shower barely produced any hot water, and the drain was almost completely blocked. To make matters worse, the toilet did not flush properly. The room was also incredibly noisy. I could hear people talking loudly in the hallway throughout the night, doors slamming, and what sounded like machinery operating somewhere nearby. As a result, I hardly slept at all. The air conditioning was another problem: it was extremely loud but barely worked, making the room either unbearably hot or uncomfortably cold. The furniture was in poor condition as well. One of the chairs was broken, a drawer was missing its handle, and the curtains were damaged. Even the bedside lamp did not work. The Wi-Fi connection was extremely unreliable, which made it difficult to do even simple things online. What made the experience particularly frustrating was the lack of helpfulness from the staff. When I reported the problems, I received little more than a dismissive response and was told that someone would “look into it.” Nobody actually came to fix anything. Overall, this hotel was a huge disappointment. The room was dirty, uncomfortable, noisy, and poorly maintained, and the service did little to improve the situation. I certainly would not recommend staying here, especially considering the price. There are undoubtedly much better places to spend your money. :::”
