About Vino.Vita. Italian Wine Bar
Vino.Vita. Italian Wine Bar is a wine bar in Reading, set at 20 Valpy St. The venue can be hired for events of up to 200 people, so larger celebrations have room, and dogs are welcome as well. Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the sharing platters, the cheese and meat tray or "tagliere" of cheeses, hams, olives and antipasti, paired with wine. Close behind is the pizza, praised for a thin, crispy base, along with starters such as the Arancini and the Bruschette with 'Nduja and Stracciatella. Drinks earn their own mentions: a Vermentino di Gallura that one reviewer found hard to come by in the UK, a wine flight, and generous pours. Servers are described as attentive and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere as great, with slow jazz or a DJ and conversation that stays easy to hold. Pasta mains draw the complaints. One diner found the Paccheri al Ragù had barely any ragù, essentially pasta in tomato sauce, while another felt the minimal menu did not taste like genuine Italian cuisine. One reviewer said a waiter kept rushing them. Gluten free requests were handled easily, and one server shared local history about the city's biscuit-making past.

“Great spot - we came early and with too much luggage and the staff accomodated us. Food was nice & very generous wine pours. They were able to cater to Gluten free easily. Exceptional service from Gordon - he is hilarious and also a wealth of knowledge on local history (be sure to ask him about the city's biscuit bygone era). Recommend”

“I went there with a family member and we had a wonderful time. The customer service was so attentive, a gentleman named Apo made sure we had a great table, fantastic cocktails to start with and a great bottle of wine with an amazing "tagliere" of delicious cheeses, hams, olives and assorted antipasti. I was particularly impressed with the Vermentino di Gallura wine because it's so hard to find in the UK. There was a lovely atmosphere and I'd highly recommend it.”

“MOSTLY GREAT, just the food could have been better! Atmosphere was perfect in my opinion!!! My family and I arrived upon opening (midday), and we had the restaurant to ourselves for a long time. Great slow jazz music made the vibe superb. Cozy look to the whole restaurant and seating areas. Great waiter! Really really enjoyed our starters! We all ordered Bruschette 'Nduja & Stracciatella, Garlic Bread, Luganega & Bomba Calabrese, Pomodoro! Absolutely amazing, loved the tomato, olive oil, sour dough bread. It's was amazing. But the main course was underwhelming! I ordered Paccheri al Ragù (1st photo) and I expected a bit of Ragù but there was barely any! It was pretty much pasta and tomato sauce! If you get a Pasta & Main, I'd recommend the Lasagna or Tagliatelle alla Crema di Funghi. Desserts were great! Would recommend any, we got all!”

“Oh wow delicious! It was beautiful evening sitting outside. The glasses of wine were perfect with the big cheese and meat tray. We also got pasta pizza and salad. I love the salad. It has very good toppings like pickled onions and boiled egg. The pasta was a little spicy, but the pizza crust was so crispy and yummy. The lemon sorbet was so refreshing. Our waiter was a bit odd. He kept rushing us but other than that it was a great restaurant and the service was quick.”
