About DeNata Coffee & Co.
DeNata Coffee & Co. is a traditional Portuguese café on Oxford Road in Reading, set just off the street at 377 Oxford Rd. The menu pulls from Portugal's café staples, with pastel de nata, bifanas, and a cabbage and chorizo soup served alongside fresh chorizo bread. “Gosh where do I start? I was excited to visit this cafe because I am Portuguese and craved authentic Portuguese flavours, so when I looked at the review and saw 4.9 I thought this place must be a gem. SMH. Overpriced and low quality. Honestly, I’m not sure if it was the day or the time of the day or wtv, I asked for Bifanas and what I received WAS NOT what we considered bifanas. I was shocked and asked the server if she got the order mixed up, she said no. I asked if it is their version of bifanas, because the description looked different from what I received, her response was that “ this is how we serve and customers have been having it for one year and love it”. The server was not Portuguese nor ever been to Portugal, so she had no clue ofc on why I was shocked. The flavours? Flopped. I was really disappointed with the presentation and the flavour. This is not bifanas and if it is the house version of it, the description should clearly clarify that. But maybe a cheeky sweet will save the day no? Wrong. I ordered pastel de nata ofc because we all love pastel de natas … now, I know different cafes do different pastel de nata, so I won’t go hard on it. Let’s just say : I won’t order it again. 2 stars for having my fav drink of all time and location, everything else is not worth the visit. of course, for the locals this must be a great place ( it is better than Greggs for sure ), but for those who misses flavours from home - I will pass. Bifanas : £12.95 ( this is £3 sandwich in Portugal btw but inflation I guess ) Sumol: £2.95 Pastel de nata : got removed from the charge because I wasn’t happy with the overall food”

“Wonderful spot on Oxford Road. Atmosphere was great 👍 and really friendly service. I was served a beautiful traditional authentic soup(cabbage and chorizo) which was delicious. You can always tell a chef by their soup. Was severed with fresh chorizo bread which was to die for. Now the coffee was exceptionally good. The quality to the skill of craft. As someone who studied coffee I would most definitely recommend this place for it's food and coffee.”

“Absolutely awful iced latte. The taste was too strong, the wait for too long. I won't be back.”
