  “Pink Toothbrush is an excellent venue, the staff there are all lovely and work extremely hard and should all be commended! Music there is always so good, and the security are always there. Make sure you bring a £1 for the cloakroom which is a good service. If you are thinking of going, do it!!!”

  “Mr SMS security guy, enjoys kicking out women on to the street in the middle of the night for barely there reasons. Place as gone town hill, truly lost the happy free loving vibe of an alternative club. Now it’s just a space for security male and female to go on an ego high.”

  “The venue itself has great music and a strong atmosphere, which makes this experience even more disappointing. I’ve been coming here since I was 18 and I’m now 28, so this isn’t a one-off visit or unfamiliarity with the venue. My issue is with the security, not the club. A few months ago I was refused entry due to a personal issue outside of the venue, not my behaviour. I later contacted management/ownership and was clearly told in writing that I was allowed back in and that the issue had been dealt with. Before returning this time (for a colleague’s leaving party), I emailed the venue in advance and contacted the manager/owner directly. I received confirmation that I was welcome and that there would be no issue. I attended sober to avoid any concerns. Despite this, I was refused entry again. The head doorman stated there were “serious allegations” against me but refused to explain what they were, which is deeply concerning. I showed written confirmation from ownership stating I was allowed entry, but this was ignored. I was also refused badge numbers when I asked for them. What makes this even more concerning is that some of the security staff involved appear to have prior personal connections to me outside of the venue, unrelated to my conduct as a customer. This raises serious concerns about conflicts of interest, misuse of authority, and a lack of impartiality. As someone who holds a personal licence and has worked in licensed venues, this situation was handled incorrectly. Being barred without explanation, contrary to written approval from ownership, and without transparency is not acceptable. It felt as though security were overriding management, which is worrying from a licensing and safeguarding perspective. I’ve since noticed multiple reviews raising similar concerns about the same security company, suggesting this may not be an isolated incident. It’s a real shame, as the venue itself is historic and well-liked. Unfortunately, until these security and management issues are properly addressed, I can’t recommend it.”

  “The main reason for this review is that the bouncers, despite multiple investigations on violence and misconduct, continue to be aggressive towards the people attending the club. You may have seen a video online recently where bouncers were man handing a woman to the floor because they feel like they can do what they want despite the impacts on other people. The bouncers are known for their disgusting violent behaviour and despite this they continue to treat people really poorly and are are aggressive to everyone! This has been going on for years and needs to be stopped as soon as possible to ensure all people are treated fairly and with respect!”

  “Bouncer is an absolute psychopath. Came here for the first time with a couple and a friend. Queue to enter was empty so walked up to this bouncer who started being aggressive because I had entered the wrong way. When politely asked to explain where I needed to go he started being abusive and threatening. Never in my life had this kind of treatment from a doorman.”

  “Don’t ever waste your time or money here, This club allows assault, I was strangled inside and when I told security they did absolutely nothing as there was ‘no evidence’, even though both me and my friend were visibly afraid and telling them what had happened. Security used the excuse that since both me and my friend were leaving, the girl that assaulted me was allowed to stay inside. I have been here many times and due to this incident will never return again.”
