About The Cove Abersoch

The Cove Abersoch is a restaurant above the South Caernarvonshire Yacht Club in Abersoch, set within the sailing club, with views over the sea and cove and yachts visible from the tables. The menu runs from flamed mussels to the Cove Burger, finishing with an affogato for dessert, and it includes gluten free options. The site is fenced behind coded gates with an intercom, so guests who are not club members buzz to be let in. Asking for the gate code when booking saves a longer walk from the car park. That car park is separate and pay-to-use, with payment made online or by phone.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the view over the cove, with yachts drifting past and the mountains beyond, and the food that matches it. The Cove Burger, flamed mussels, lobster and oysters to start get specific mention, along with a well-priced wine list and an affogato one diner called the best they had tasted. Service is described as friendly, efficient and accommodating with a one year old, and several call the meal good value. Menu and food drew a mixed response from one diner who was slightly disappointed, and another reported a long gap before the lamb and fish arrived, both mains exceptionally salty, and no staff check-in during the meal. Access is a recurring snag: the restaurant sits within the sailing club behind coded gates, visitors buzz the intercom to be let in, and one reviewer found the pay-by-phone or online car park nearly impossible to use. Some suggest booking in advance at weekends or holidays. Several say they will be back, and one calls it a regular stop on trips to Abersoch.

“Lovely restaurant with great views , we have visited twice this summer and both occasions we sadly had the same experience. We sat at 7:30pm and ordered 2 mains, fish and lamb the food took 1hour 10mins to arrive and staff did not explain reasons why it took so long. When the food eventually arrived both mains were exceptionally salty and for my partner was inedible and she left it largely untouched. The staff never came over once during our meal to enquire if the meal was enjoyable. We left shortly after 9pm as soon as the mains were over .”

“Food was out of this world! The service was great and efficiently run, very accommodating as we were with our one year old. The view is unbelievable, definitely one of the best views from any restaurant we’ve been to around the world! Highly recommended! We will one million percent be back!”

“Took refuge here during a thunderstorm and decided to try the lobster. Right from the start I was welcome and giving a table straight away. The food was delicious and the portions generous, the view over the cove is beautiful and the service was amazing. All in all the perfect experience. Definitely recommend.”
  • David Taylor
“Much enjoyed our first dinner at The Cove, menu was original and interesting. Food, service and staff all excellent and the wine list was good and well priced. The restaurant has a nice ambiance with wonderful views across cardigan bay and the tables are well spaced with a well chosen music selection that wasn’t imposing on our conversation. I finished my meal with probably the best affogato dessert I ever tasted. Overall our meal was excellent value and I’d highlight Issac our waiter who was very helpful and efficient. We will be back.”
