About Bamboo
On Plungington Road in Preston, Bamboo is a Chinese takeaway that runs as a counter service for collection and delivery, with no seating on site. The menu runs through the familiar takeaway spread, from hot and sour soup and spring rolls to duck and pancakes, salt and pepper chicken and chow mein. Orders go in online through the website, where customers can pick a delivery time slot, and the counter staff phone through when an order is ready. Cash is accepted, and the small menu covers noodles, curry sauce and sides like prawn crackers and onion rings alongside the mains.

Customer Review Summary
Most regulars return to Bamboo for the salt and pepper chips, with several reviewers calling out the chow mein and the overall freshness of the food, and portions described as large and arriving on time. Service wins frequent praise, with one diner describing how a staff member phoned to honour a missed free-meal offer and refunded the cost in cash with the driver, and another recounting being given free onion rings after ordering from the wrong shop. Close behind, the hot and sour soup draws divided opinion: alongside positive mentions, two reviewers describe it as vile and virtually cold on arrival, and the same pair report greasy duck, soggy salt and pepper chips, and spring rolls that tasted of onion. One reviewer flatly calls the order not worth the £50 paid, and a three-star review notes that even the dog would not eat it. Several suggest giving the kitchen another chance after a bad experience, while loyal customers say they order from Bamboo all the time.

“Ordered online for delivery, ordered hot and sour soup, duck and pancakes, chicken balls with sweet and sour, salt and pepper chicken and chips, noodles and spring rolls/prawn crackers and curry sauce. The duck was greasy, sweet and sour was horrible, hot and sour soup was vile. I wouldn’t recommend and definitely won’t be back. The salt and pepper chips and chicken were soggy and had no spice to them whatsoever. For £50 I’ll definitely be going elsewhere. Would not recommend at all. All went uneaten.”

“Just ordered sweet and sour chicken which was virtually cold. I also ordered vegetable spring roles, they might as well advertise them as onion spring rolls. Absolutely disgusting.”

“The food i got this evening was very poor I won't be ordering from them again”
