Quick info
About The Thai House
The Thai House is a Thai restaurant at 60 Notte St in Plymouth, serving Thai cuisine since 1998. The menu includes a deconstructed monkfish Panang curry served in a banana leaf parcel, which gives seafood fans a curry built around fish. Massaman curry comes in a beef rib version, and coconut rice sits alongside the curries as the accompaniment. The kitchen opens daily, so the restaurant works for a midweek dinner as easily as a weekend one. Inside, the dining room has exposed brick walls and a decorated interior.

Customer Review Summary
Service is the recurring complaint. Several describe slow service when only one or two staff were covering orders, clearing and bills, including on a bank holiday weekend and New Year's Eve, and one felt rushed. A few dishes disappointed: the green curry was called too thick, the squid tasted like a deep fried coating, and one reviewer got tofu satay skewers with no satay sauce and two tear-open sachets of sweet chilli instead of a pot.

“Luminous rooms, central Plymouth. We had first the stir fried scallops, excellent and tasty. Then, the Pad Thai, perfect, with that lightly caramelized aroma. And the Mix Seafood Tom Yum soup, choosing the spicy one: brilliant, such an aromatic stock and perfect mussels, squid, shrimps and scallops : sparkling ! And for desert classic Mango rice, excellent. Plus a very good Australian Shiraz. Absolutely lovely!”

“I do love this restaurant and the ambience. It was my second visit and they were busy. Staff were patient but it did feel a little rushed. Food was good but not quite as good as the first visit. No daily specials this time. Still rates very highly. Definitely recommend. We booked via google maps which simplified the whole process.”

“The food here was absolutely amazing! The service was incredible, the waitress was so accommodating and kind, i wish i got her name she was blonde and super sweet! Would definitely recommend everyone go, we ordered the panang curry and coconut rice which was so perfect.”

“Could not be more disappointed! We ordered tofu satay skewers that came with no satay sauce, and tempura veg with sweet chilli sauce which turned out to be 2 tiny tear-open sachets instead of a pot of sauce. I ordered a satay dish as my main and it was just more dry tofu with steamed veg and a few dots of satay paste on top of a few pieces. We ordered Jasmine rice and sticky rice, but recieved 2 pots of plain boiled rice. Everything was tasteless, plain and greasy. I'm going to make sure everyone I know avoids this expensive mistake.”

“First time coming here and what a lovely little place this is. Well decorated, exposed brick on the walls and clean. I had the beef rib masman curry (sorry if that’s not how you spell it) and it was the best curry I’ve ever eaten. So yum! You can tell it’s smoked and such great flavour in the sauce! My only drawback on the service was that they didn’t seem to know much about the food they’re serving. However still a great place and would definitely be back for the food!”
