About The Chippy
The Chippy is a fish and chips shop at 606A Wolseley Rd in Plymouth, built around fish and chips with cod on the menu. The chips are cut at the shop and come with gravy, which gives the order a choice beyond the usual salt and vinegar. Spicy spuds sit on the menu for anyone who wants a different kind of potato side. Kebabs are listed as well, so a group that cannot agree on fish can still order from one counter.

Customer Review Summary
Fish and chips draw the most comment, with reviewers praising fresh, chunky cuts of fish in crunchy, never greasy batter and chips described as home cut and outstanding. Close behind, a few single out the beefy gravy, spicy spuds and kebabs, and several call the staff friendly, with quick delivery. Consistency is the recurring complaint, and one reviewer calls the shop hit and miss. One describes a large cod that came out small, with patchy batter and dry fish where the batter was missing, while another found the chips translucent and undercooked on two visits in a row. Order problems also appear: half the chicken missing from a takeaway, with only a credit note or a drop off offered, and a delivery that never arrived after a long wait. One reviewer found the door locked despite online opening hours. The order that never arrived was eventually refunded to the customer's card.

“Says it's open online, sign on the door says open and the opening hours state it should be open. Lights are on but the door is locked and no answer to knocking or the phone. Not sure how they are planning on selling any food if they won't let anyone in.”

“COUNT YOUR ORDER BEFORE LEAVING. Bought food for my 2 children drove the 15 mins or so home to find out they had only put in half the chicken i had paid for. Phoned up and to be fair they offered a credit note or to have someone drop them to me. Both these options are pretty useless when you have 2 small starving hungry children but i did appreciate the offer.”
