Customer Review Summary

Diners most often praise friendly, helpful table service, including one server who went through the menu for food intolerances straight away, and the food that comes with it: an excellent breakfast, rack of ribs and chicken, a mixed grill described as good value, a shredded beef starter, and a lemon and raspberry semifreddo that one reviewer highly recommends. Reviewers call it no nonsense food with a family vibe. The complaints are sharper. One guest with a prepaid meal was ignored on arrival and then told the kitchen had stopped serving, and another says a table booked online was refused by a staff member they found rude. Others report stone cold chips, a steak with more fat than meat, and a lasagne under thick melted cheese, though another diner found the lasagne tasty and hot. A tepid pudding, litter and full ashtrays in the beer garden, and a floor needing a vacuum also come up. One family sent back their dishes and the waitress did not charge for them.

“The lack of empathy from the staff at this restaurant is just outrageous. I was staying at the hotel for work and had a really tough day, working non-stop from 9 am until 8:30 pm. My company had ALREADY PAID for my meal. I rushed to get down to the restaurant before 9 pm, which is when the kitchen closes. I arrived on the dot at 9, but the staff ignored me for four minutes before finally coming over, only to tell me that they unfortunately don't serve food after 9. They had absolutely no problem taking my company's money, though. Now I’m left having to order a takeaway instead.”

“Went to Dinner with the family. First of all 2 meals had stone cold chips and we had to send back. Ordered steak. More fat than steak, could hardly eat it. Lasagna.. awful just covered very thick with melted cheese.. felt like mash potato. Luckily the waitress was really nice and understood why we had to send it all back. She did not charge us for both meals. So thankfully we only paid for 2 meals out of 4. Would not visit again.”

“The breakfast was excellent. One of our puddings in the evening was tepid at best. Service was great. Thought the floor could do with a vacuum in places.”

“This is a place we always come to on holiday. On arrival informed they are only taking bookings. We made a booking online which allowed us to do. To then be informed they won’t seat us as we first just turned up. The lady that spoke to use which incredibly rude. We then called asking to speak to management which was the same lady. She stated she would rather us go somewhere else that would give us a nice meal instead of one that we would not enjoy. So what is she employing about her kitchen staff. Definitely won’t be returning!”
