About Najar's Place
Najar's Place is a sandwich shop at 1 St Giles' in Oxford, run from a blue street-food stand where the falafel is made in front of customers for wraps. Wraps are the main item, with a large menu of fillings that leans toward vegetarian falafel combinations and also includes chicken and lamb. The roast lamb and falafel wrap suits those who want meat, while the spicy potato wrap with falafel and hummus keeps to the vegetarian side. Chili and garlic sauces are offered on the wraps. Panini, coffee and tea round out the menu for anyone who wants something other than a wrap. Service is walk-in. Customers pay at the front, then wait at the side for the order to be handed over.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come for the falafel wraps, with falafel, hummus, tzatziki, tabbouleh and salad a popular combination, and the falafel is described as made right in front of customers. Roast lamb and garlic chicken are close behind, with the meats called tender and moist, and one reviewer singles out a crispy yet soft wrap with chili and garlic sauces. A spicy potato wrap with falafel and hummus and a panini also get mentions. Many remark on how affordable and large the wraps are, and several describe a queue at the blue stand that moves quickly. The criticisms are small but specific. One long-time regular says the staff refused to cut a toasted wrap in half for a family member who cannot eat a full one, citing a management decision, and relented only after some convincing "this one time". Another found the spicy sauce so overpowering that it masked other flavors on a chicken wrap. Even so, that regular still called the food excellent.

“I smelled something amazing as I was walking and saw a couple pass by with wraps. I quickly figured out it was Najar’s. Because of the super affordable price, I decided to try a wrap over a dinner at a pub. Genuinely the best wrap I’ve ever had. The wrap itself was the perfect texture - crispy on the outside yet thin and soft. The flavors mixed together amazingly - I got falafel, hummus, garlic chicken, and salad with their chili and garlic sauces. The falafel and chicken were moist and well seasoned. I wish I wasn’t leaving Oxford today because I would so come back again and again.”

“I’ve got to come back and try the lamb wrap. I got the chicken wrap this time. It was rich but I think I like lamb more than chicken breast. Also I think the spicy sauce was too overpowering. It wasn’t spicy, it just didn’t allow me to really taste anything else.”

“What a brilliant find in Oxford. As I was walking back to the theatre in Oxford I saw virtually every next person walking past me eating what looked like a wrap. I was intrigued. I didn’t have to wait long until a little blue shack came into view. Studying the vast menu I then looked at the prices. Less than £5 a wrap! Surely that can’t be right? Well it was right. I queued up and acquired a roast lamb and falafel wrap with all the trimmings. You pay at the front then wait at the side. Less than 5 minutes later I walked away with a delicious wrap. It was a fairly big wrap and was a taste sensation. I still couldn’t quite believe it was Less than a fiver! You have to go here! It rocks. P.s. I returned twice more in the week I was in Oxford.”

“Great food and great value. Went here for lunch and £10 for two very large wraps that left us very satisfied. Would 100% recommend going here for a quick lunch.”

“Really disappointing service from one of our favourite places to eat in the city. We've been coming here for almost 10 years, and friendly service has always been one of its hallmarks. A family member is medically unable to eat a full wrap, and usually shares one with their partner. Najar's place has always been happy to cut the wrap in half after toasting and serve the two halves separately, but today they said that management has decided that this is not allowed, as otherwise "everyone would expect this, and it would take too long". This explanation was only given after multiple times of asking why they were just refusing without being willing to explain. We were the only people in the queue at the time, so I don't fully understand the argument. The food was still excellent, as always, but this experience makes it much less likely that I would recommend Najar's Place to friends and family in the future. Edit: After some convincing, they agreed to cut the wrap for us "this one time".”
