About The Roast Garden Cafe

Tucked into the Newbank Garden Centre in Oldham, The Roast Garden Cafe gives shoppers somewhere to sit down before or after browsing the plants and garden supplies. The menu runs from a full breakfast through sandwiches and hot meals, alongside hot and cold drinks, so a table works equally for a sit-down lunch or just a snack and a coffee. Cakes are sold by the slice, with carrot cake and Victoria sponge among them. Orders are taken at the table and the team brings food and drinks over. No booking is needed, as the café works on a walk-in basis, and it opens daily during the daytime. A step-free entrance means visitors with mobility needs can get in without stairs, and high chairs are on hand for families with young children. Being a small room, it seats a modest number of people at a time.

Customer Review Summary

Warm, accommodating staff dominate what visitors describe here, with several recounting small acts of care: one server noticing an older customer was unsteady on her feet and carrying everything over to her table, and another regularly chatting with a family who say the kitchen happily serves their mum, who has dementia, a children's meal of chicken nuggets, fries and beans. Close behind come the cakes, with the Victoria sponge singled out and a slice of carrot cake alongside a club sandwich called delicious. Others describe food as fresh, tasty and nicely presented, and the room as cosy, quaint and calming after a browse round the garden centre. Price is the recurring sticking point: one long-standing customer walked out over the cost of a slice of cake, and another found the creamy mushrooms on the board, two sliced mushrooms with sauce and one piece of toast, expensive for what arrived, though staff apologised repeatedly for getting that order wrong.

Had a lovely visit to The Roast Garden Cafe. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and the whole cafe had such a cosy, relaxed atmosphere. Such a nice little spot to sit and enjoy good food. Will definitely be coming back again.

Thank you once again for a lovely visit. Steve is always such a friendly member of staff and the young girls are always friendly and accommodating to our wishes. Our mum has dementia and does not often have a big appetite but the staff always let her enjoy her children’s meal of chicken nuggets, fries and beans. The drinks were piping hot and nothing is too much trouble for the staff, especially Steve who always chats with us and makes us almost feel like one of the Roast Cafe family. See you again soon

Love this cafe ❤️ The cakes are amazing especially the Victoria sponge. Went for lunch and had a nice time browsing the garden centre and a spot of lunch afterwards. Staff were friendly and attentive and I felt very welcome.

How this listing is sourced

Where the data comes from
Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
How it stays current
Listings are re-checked in batches against their public profile, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
How it is ranked
Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
