About Ramen Hassaku
Ramen Hassaku is a Japanese restaurant on Derby Rd in Nottingham, run as a small family business by Hong Kong owners. The chashu ramen anchors the menu, with generous chashu covering the bowl. Katsu dishes widen the choice, including chicken katsu ramen, and gyoza is among the sides. The kitchen is open, and the dining room is small. Payment is cash only. The restaurant is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Customer Review Summary
The main caveat is practical. Two reviewers say it is cash only, and one notes the small room would feel cramped when busy. One suggests booking because it gets busy, and takeaway is also available. A couple of diners describe detouring specifically for a bowl, and one spent the meal with food envy over other tables' ramen despite being full.

“If you haven’t discovered this gem, you’re missing out big time! The food & service was awesome and the choice made it so hard to figure out what we wanted! I spent so much time looking at other people’s bowls with food envy despite being full! The match ice cream was delicious and 4 of us had to share the icream as we were so full! I suggest you book as the place does get busy but takeaway is also available.”

“One of the best Ramen I have had , the octopus was out of this world too. Family run small business! Made a detour specifically for this on our way from Leeds to London , was absolutely worth it . Do not miss this experience”

“This place grabs you the moment you arrive. First, you slip through a pair of unassuming, sliding wooden doors. Then, the sheer authenticity hits you: an open kitchen where the chefs lay all their cards on the table, and a dining room packed with Japanese regulars. That sight alone is the ultimate seal of approval-there's zero commercial tourist-trap nonsense here. The food? Brilliant, impeccably fresh, and absolutely spot on. Waiting times are perfect, the service is genuinely warm, and the understated yet atmospheric decor rounds it off nicely. Verdict: an absolute triumph. I'll be a regular.”

“The food here is the closest me and my partner have found to the real deal in Japan! All their ramen is fantastic (especially the spicy version) and their tonkatsu is thick cut and good quality meat. We come back here whenever we get the chance and the staff here are always warm and welcoming. Make sure to bring cash!”

“Delicious food. We had the chicken katsu ramen and the tonkotsu chashu ramen, with some gyoza and karaage chicken as sides. Portion sizes are very generous, the amount of chicken with the ramen was more than any other place we've been to. Cash only so be prepared, and it is a small place so would be cramped if busy but wasn't too bad while we were there. Would definitely revisit”
