About The Kimchi
The Kimchi is a Korean restaurant on Brigg Street in Norwich, set upstairs from a street-level entrance, with a small dining room and a separate floor for the toilets. The menu runs to Korean tapas plates that arrive alongside Korean fried chicken, shredded potato banchan, kimchi and rice, and extends to dolsot bibimbap and bulgogi served in a steaming pot. Adding an egg to a dish carries an extra charge. The compact room fills quickly, which can make the space feel cramped and noisy at busy times.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers single out the Korean fried chicken and bibimbap as standout dishes, with the bulgogi pot and dolsot bibimbap also earning praise. Most describe the food as fresh, flavourful and authentic, and the small upstairs space as cosy. A few note cramped seating, a narrow staircase, and finding a bar fly on a salad without an apology, which one diner called a letdown.

“Such a lovely hidden gem in Norwich! The food was fresh, wholesome and beautifully flavoured, and the cosy atmosphere made it even better. A really unique addition to the city! Love love it!”

“Absolutely excellent food, truly great. Only loses a star as there was a dead bar fly on a salad leaf and I didn't get an apology so felt a little let down.”

“Excellent food, nicely tucked away up stairs giving a cosy experience as well as having good service.”

“Tasty Korean cuisine, in relaxed surroundings with prompt and friendly service. My other half and I visited for a quick dinner prior to seeing a show at the Theatre Royal. A street level entrance leads you straight up some stairs to the restaurant. We had some man-doo vegetable dumplings, a Seoul (BBQ beef) and Pusan (BBQ spicy pork) Korean Tapas dishes; each are accompanied with Korean Fried Chicken, shredded potato banchan, kimchi and rice. This was all exceptionally delicious, especially the KFC, which was cruchy, tender, tasty and had a surprising lightness that belied it's deep fried origins. It was still rich and the kimchi has a freshness that went well with it. We washed it all down with a couple of cans of coke; our only criticism would be for there to be a greater selection of alcoholic beverages, albeit I can appreciate that what was on offer was authentic. The bill was very reasonable too - we will definitely visit again.”

“The Kimchee is nestled on the second floor of a building. Its small space creates a cozy atmosphere, and they serve a variety of dishes, with lots of options, such as bimbap. The bulgogi pot was my choice, and it came out in a reasonable amount of time, looking good. It comes in a steaming pot and tastes very good. Overall, I recommend coming here as the place is clean, cozy and serves good bulgogi!”
