About Zaket Potato
Zaket Potato is a fast food restaurant in Norwich, serving jacket potatoes from a small stall at 10 Dereham Rd, outside The Reindeer Pub. The potatoes are sold as Zakets, and the original comes topped with cheese. Chicken curry is the curry option, often paired with cheese and crispy onions, and chilli con carne is another hot topping. A special topping changes every week, and pulled pork with gravy and cheese has been one of them. The stall also runs a community fund, and donations go toward a limited number of free potatoes for people in need. The stall also pops up at local events, including football tournaments and a beer festival.

Customer Review Summary
Chicken curry is the draw most reviewers raise, described as full of flavour and served in generous portions on huge, fluffy potatoes with crispy skin, often topped with cheese and crispy onions. Chilli con carne comes close behind, with one home cook preferring it to their own. Others mention an impressive cheese pull, plentiful tuna with coleslaw, and garlic butter. Saturday specials such as pulled pork with gravy and a cottage pie potato also get a mention. Several reviewers found the van at football tournaments and a beer festival, where one says a coeliac relative found something to eat. The recurring snag is availability: one reviewer says the chicken curry always sells out, and another says the first festival day did not go as planned before the team came back the next day. Reviewers describe the service as friendly and helpful, and several mention a community fund. One notes a limited number of free potatoes offered to people in need.

“These guys came to our beer festival at Freethorpe and what a lovely bunch of guys they are. The first day didn’t exactly go as planned but they took it all in their stride and came back the next day prepared to give it all a good go again. Would highly recommended the food. And was super pleased my sister in law, who is celiac, found something scrummy she could eat. The curry was beautiful. Looking forward to next year!! Thanks again guys xx”

“Whilst to some it may just be a man selling a jacket potato, when you buy, you are actually investing in not just great soul food but into a life story, a legacy of a man devoted to make a difference to the lives of others the best way he can. With a heart for his community Zak is building not just customers, but community, friends, supporters. When you purchase a potato, you are giving far more than you know. The food is popular, it's good, it's wholesum, it is filling, it is proper good quality cooked to perfection little meal to warm the tummy and the soul.”

“Took my daughter and friends who were crazing to go see the guys this weekend at the football tournament. It was mega, just the fun conversation ordering what they wanted really put a smile on their faces, they also managed to sneak onto the live stream. The whole experience was great for them and well worth the time to take them there, the portions were big, and must have been tasty as they ate it all. Thanks Zak and the team.”
