About The Galley Horning
The Galley Horning is a deli in Norwich on Lower St that combines a cafe and a gift shop under one roof. The Hornish Pasty, a beef pasty, arrives with salad and chutney, and homemade sausage rolls sit alongside it. The brunch menu includes eggs royale and a brioche dish with sausage, bacon, egg, mushrooms and grilled tomato. A cream tea comes with a scone, clotted cream and a pot of tea, and the drinks list covers cafetiere coffee and cappuccino. The shop is near a green and boat hire, with boats close by.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the Hornish pasty, describing massive chunks of tender beef in light pastry with fresh veg and a tangy sweet chutney. Close behind are the brunch plates, including eggs royale and a brioche with chilli jam, sausage, bacon and egg, where the sausages stand out. Cream teas get praise for generous portions and a huge pot of tea, and the ploughman's lunch box is called good value and handy for takeaway on a boat trip. Homemade sausage rolls, a ginger slice and a well-stocked deli and gift shop also come up, along with friendly, helpful staff and fair prices. The main complaint is a single visit where a cream tea and quiche order met an unwelcoming reception, with no hot food or sandwiches because the ovens were off and no bread was left, despite a door sign suggesting a later closing. Even that reviewer called the scone huge and delicious and was not asked to leave while finishing tea.

“Amazing little place, the ploughman's lunch box was sensational and such good value with the amount you get for the price. Ideal to take away and enjoy on a boat hire trip!”

“Popped into The Galley for breakfast while on holiday after doing a bit of online menu-scouting. We weren't sure what to expect, but the food was absolutely superb. Generous portions, top-quality ingredients, and wonderfully warm, kind service. We also couldn't resist grabbing some of their delicious homemade sausage rolls and pasties for the road. I don't write alot of reviews, but felt this was deserved. Highly recommend!”

“My wife and I stopped along today for a little brunch, I had a brioche spread with chilli Jam semi deconstructed with sausage, bacon egg and surrounded with mushrooms and grilled tomato. Sausages were stand out and overall I felt superb value for money, in a friendly accomodating environment. Hats off to the team and I should also mention that the pasties are supreme too although I did not have one on this occasion. An easy five stars across the board”

“Myself and my partner had a savoury pastry followed by a ginger slice washed down with a big cup of cappuccino each. The staff, food and atmosphere are excellent and we'll definitely visit again”

“Been past a few times and final made a point of popping in ... and I wasn't disappointed. The amusingly name Hornish Pasty was delicious. Massive chunks of the tender beef packed the lightest of pastry accompanied with fresh veg with a beautiful dressing and a to die for tangy sweet chutney.”
