Customer Review Summary

Steak is the dish diners return to most, with reviewers describing ribeye, sirloin, fillet, and tomahawk cuts as tender and cooked to perfection, though several report the opposite: one diner ordered medium and got rare, a daughter's medium rare arrived medium well, and a wife's well done was the only one correct, with a neighboring table reporting the same problem. Close behind, the cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding draw praise, and the burger and steak pie are singled out as generous. Complaints recur around inconsistency, one visit found fish and chips greasy with burnt-outside, undercooked-inside batter and a dried-out gammon, while another described lasagna cold in the middle and a mac n cheese that was dry and smelled of gas fumes; staff in the fish and chips case apologized, discounted the bill, and offered a future discount. A few call the venue tired and scruffy in parts, and one found vegetables undercooked and hard. Several reviewers name servers and hosts who made occasions like anniversaries and birthdays feel looked after, offering to remake steaks or explaining loyalty deals, and multiple diners say they plan to return despite the kitchen's uneven consistency.

“It was a very quiet night-looking forward to trying it again and see if anything changes if it's busier as there was no atmosphere as such. Lovely setting. Excellent service from Olly and Sara from start to end. Good menu including vegan options which were delicious and the two fish courses were also incredibly well done. Slightly disappointed that to join the club you have to have the app which currently only has 1 star, truly terrible, reviews on the app store otherwise I would definitely have signed up and become much more of a regular as Olly was explaining some of the deals are truly excellent value. However we will still be returning as the food and service were by far and away the best we have had locally for quite some time 🙂”

“The food was amazing, as well as the service! We asked the staff whether we could swapped all the fries and mashed potatoes to veggies and they willing to do it for us. The stake and stew were good, but the condiments were even better. Definitely coming back again ;)”

“Ultimately what you want is a satisfying dish. That it does. We were in for an early tea, so, difficult to judge atmosphere but all in all pleasant. I still find it surprising to pay £80+ for 2 courses for 2 and no alcoholic drinks, but maybe that is just the new normal. Would I recommend? Yes.”
