  “Terrible potatoes, from being undercooked to poor quality. Carvery meat (no beef left) pork and turkey was good quality. After speaking with the young waitress regarding the potatoes, she immediately brought over the manager who kindly offered and removed the price of the main meals, with recognition and understanding of the food quality. Polite, courteous and attentive staff.”

  “We received such a lovely welcome. Although we hadn’t booked, the manageress ( Jo) kindly found a table for all five of us. She had a wonderful personality and was extremely friendly and professional. Riley was also fantastic—very welcoming, friendly and especially patient with my mum, who is in her seventies. The excellent service made our visit even more enjoyable. Thank you!”

  “One of the worst meals I've ever had. I ordered the mushrooms and 2 mins before bringing them out, they said they didn't have them and would just bring the garlic bread. When it came out the garlic bread was so hard that nobody at the table could even crush it in their hands! It's actually embarrassing bringing out something that bad!!! The veg was hard and tasteless. How places like the Toby are still open is beyond me!”

  “We didn’t eat, but I can say that the service was excellent. Mara was really helpful as we were visiting from outside the area. At the bar, Lily H, was able to offer my friend great drinks advice. Highly recommended.”

  “Went from went to a mid week Calvary ,which you can't be with my girlfriends for a catch up. Are waitresses was Tish She couldn't do enough for us. She kept coming over to check that we were okay and if we needed any more drinks or anything it makes a change to have such a friendly waitress as everything has QR codes now I hope she gets the recognition she deserves as you can clearly see she likes her job and is very good at it. Thank you for a lovely evening we will be back again soon.”

  “We had the Wake after my mother's funeral at the Toby Carvery. The hot food and sweet treats were lovely and the service was good. The sandwiches were plentiful although a little dry. Our server Justice was really attentive and checked everything was OK for our whole party. They provided take away boxes for us to take home some of the food that was left. We have had family gatherings at this Toby in the past and will definitely be back again, hopefully in happier circumstances.”

  “First visit here for my husband and I and will not be the last. Upon arrival we were greeted by a delightful lady called Irene. So welcoming and friendly. She explained the procedure and asked if the table was OK. Seating area as with all other areas spotlessly clean. Toilet all immaculate and lovely fresh smell. Kieran in charge of the carvey. Super selection. Expertly carved turkey , beef and gammon. Roast potatoes cooked to perfection. Yorkshire, stuffing, mash, carrots, peas, green beans, Cauliflower Cheese and divine onions in gravy. Two very satisfied customers. This carvery is a credit to the Toby organisation. Well done. Lovely relaxing experience.”

  “Visited on Sunday 10th August. Parking a bit tight when busy. Pub is nice inside with plenty of tables. Toilets are reasonably clean. Okay lets do the niggles first - You have to queue to check in which is about as slow as checking in at the Airport, this needs to be changed, especially for people who struggle to stand for long periods. The person checking was even showing people to their tables, when there was at least 5 staff standing around in the bar area?? The next thing is we wanted the carvery and there is no clear instruction of how you pay? We had to go and ask at the bar to find out, only to find, you have to pay at the bar!! It is very dis-jointed, because when you eventually get to the service point you are asked if you want a king size plate or a normal one, which you can easily say you paid for a king size plate and i suspect many people are able to walk up and get their food without paying. It is a very odd way of service, which again could easily be simplified. Then the queue to get your food!! We stood there for about 10-15 minutes to get out food. If you pay for a kingsize plate you can have to pigs in blankets (pigs with no blankets) and not a very nice flavour. Also you get to have 2 meats which i opted for Gammon and Lamb, with a choice of Turkey, Pork and Beef. The meat is nice to be fair. You can help yourself to the rest which includes fresh vegetables, stuffing, roast parsnips, roast potatoes, onion gravy and normal gravy and condiments of mustard, mint sauce , cranberry sauce. Maybe we just visited at a peak time but it was to much standing around. The food was okay, the roast parsnips were nice as was the stuffing, but the Yorkshire had no flavour and the roasties were lovely cooked but not too much flavour either. For those with a large apetite, you can certainly get your fill here. Would we visit again - probably not based on all the standing around and trying to check in. Also please clean the ashtrays, they are disgustingly dirty.”
