About Moules and Co Newquay
Moules and Co Newquay is a seafood restaurant on S Quay Hill where mussels take the lead, with several named varieties including arrabiata, cider and bacon, and mariniere alongside pasta dishes such as a prawn pasta and a recurring mac and cheese. The kitchen keeps a small menu in a small room, where garlic and butter aromas drift out to the street, and seating runs to stools without backrests. A couple runs the room and serves tables on a walk-in basis, and getting a table can require a bit of luck. Cider is on the drink list, and the door stays open to dogs.

“I've been visiting cornwall literally all my life, so 50+ years, and can't believe I've not been here since it opened 6 years ago! We both had cider & bacon mussels and plenty of bread (which they were happy to top-up) and they were so nice, freshly cooked, amazing. It's a small place, seating for roughly 12 or so, on the road down to the harbour. Small menu but it means they focus on great freshly cooked dishes. The two guys were so friendly too. Great food and will definitely return when we're next in Cornwall.”

“Some of the best mussels we’ve ever had (and def the biggest!) plus the pasta was very tasty. And the guys were great and clearly invested in giving you a nice experience and are proud of their food (as they should be, it’s yummy). Yes, the place isn’t big, yes, they don’t have a toilet, yes the seats don’t have a backrest. But being small, quaint and intimate is part of the magic. If anyone is looking for laminated menus and standardized offerings, this is not the place. Eating here feels authentic and homey, 100% worth the hype.”

Customer Review Summary
Mussels are what reviewers return for, and the cider and bacon version is named most often, described as fresh and very sweet. Close behind are the mariniere, called very creamy, the arrabiata, and a Thai red curry version that one pair said had just the right level of spice and drank down with tiger bread and a spoon. Pasta and mac and cheese get praise too, with one reviewer calling the pasta cooked perfectly. Diners repeatedly describe the two people running the place as friendly and proud of their food, and several mention the small, intimate room, with one adding that dogs were welcomed. Reviewers also note the limits: no toilet, seats without backrests, and a small menu, which one person wished had more vegetable, salad and sugar-free drink options. One German reviewer says a table takes some luck because the place closes when food sells out, and the only negative review reports finding it closed on a Sunday at 12:45. Reviewers also mention bread being topped up for free.
