Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often praise the food as good for the price, with several calling it fresh and tasty at a seaside cafe that regulars say has stayed the same in their entire lives and that one diner credits with fifty years of nostalgia. Close behind is friendly staff, and a few note that dogs are allowed inside and that there is a coffee nook with books to read. Others mention plenty of seats. Several reviews are sharply critical, though. One fish supper is described as hard as a rock and cooked brown inside, and another diner says the fish and chips looked like they had been doing a back stroke in oil. Chicken fillet burgers are called processed, greasy and bland. One adult main arrived as a kids portion and the chips were half ends. Families describe a long wait for orders to be taken while staff chatted, and one was never offered a highchair. When one couple raised their complaint while paying, the reply was that staff were sorry to hear it.

“Been the same great place in my entire 35 years and doesn't change which is excellent!”

“Been here a lot before but this was very disappointing. The staff were mostly friendly enough but our table was filthy until we were finally acknowledged. My adult main was a kids portion with a splash of undressed salad. My wife’s chips were half ends. We said when we were paying and they said we’re sorry to hear that. Yeah us too, cheers.”

“Disappointed to read some of the reviews for the Broadway. Myself, my wife and our two girls ate there yesterday. Nothing fancy. No Michelin stars. Just very good suitable menu for a seaside diner. Staff were all young ,nice and pleasant. Food was nice. Priced appropriately. But as a dining experience it has something that you can't reproduce easily. It's a fifty year old business that has authentic history and nostalgia. We ate there some years ago and it was nice to be there again. And I hope to be there again some time soon. I know how much hard work goes into running a food business. Most people haven't a clue how much effort goes into their plate. Anyway, I love the place and I'm thankful to the owners and staff.”

“Went with my family and was told to check for a table by the waitress, who didn't know if there was or wasn't. Got seated, no offer of a highchair and waited 15 minutes with menu in hand when smaller groups who came in after us had their orders taken and were being taken when my 5yo said buy to the girl who came and gave us the menus smiled, the girl who made us check for a free table smirked at my wife when serving a table that had just came in..Personally, I would avoid this place completely. Rumours say its cheap, unfortunately you can tell by the attitude of the staff. Very very bad service and feel from staff. I won't be back and will be telling others the same”
