Customer Review Summary
Scones draw the most repeat praise, with one diner singling out the cheese scones and another calling the warmed scones the best in the area after a second visit. Close behind are the hot chocolate with cream, buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup and back bacon, sweetcorn and courgette fritters, and burrata salad with black figs and pistachios. Others praise the avocado toast, a gluten-free sweet potato cake and the focaccia. Several describe a cozy atmosphere and welcoming, kind staff, and one notes the downstairs seating is dog friendly. The main complaints are service upstairs and cost. One reviewer says no one came up to the table, the mayonnaise they asked for never arrived, and the plates were only part cleared, so they advise not sitting upstairs. That reviewer also found the soup watered down and lacking seasoning. A longtime regular still called the lunch and supper outstanding but was shocked by the soup and supper prices. One reviewer adds that scones come warmed, so ask if you want them otherwise.

“Absolutely loved this adorable little gem tucked away in the heart of Blockley, yet another enchanting Cotswolds village! My avocado toast was delicious, and the gluten-free sweet potato cake was absolutely incredible—such a treat! The café itself is full of charm, with a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes you want to linger a little longer. Definitely worth a visit if you’re exploring the beautiful Cotswolds!”

“Best breakfast we’ve had in a long time! Visited on our way home from our holiday and am so glad we did. Staff were great and the downstairs seating area was dog friendly which was perfect for us. No complaints at all.”

“We've been using this cafe for several years. The food - lunch, supper outstanding, highly imaginative, tasty and well presented. BUT during our visit July 2026 we were shocked by the prices. £11.50 for soup definitely OTT and £45 for supper too much for a retired professor! However when in my beloved Cotswolds next (from whence I came) I will go for it. Overall Craig and Jamie you do a brilliant job..keep up the good work!”

“Due to decent reviews we thought we'd give it a try. 2hr free street parking near by. Outside is a well worn no parking area which some appear to ignore. Let's divide this review into 3 sections. Decore/ambiance Nice and fresh looking with table and chairs seating approx. 18 in front of the counter and another 20 upstairs where there is a balcony overlooking part of the down stairs. Food I would say 9/10 for the food. Only because the soup I had appeard to have been watered down and lacked seasoning but, everything else was excellent. Cheese scones especially were great. Service. I'm afraid this was a let down. Although we saw lots of intriguing items on the menu which we would have liked to have tried while in the area, we decided not to return because of the poor service. Why? We decided to sit upstairs and waited for a few tables to be cleared and wiped down. I say wiped when all it got was a figure of eight dampened smear. We sat, ordered drinks and perused the menu. Time went on and no one came up, not even to clear tables that had vacated. Eventually I went down explaining it wasn't clear if orders were taken at the table or at the counter. The waitress did apologise saying she wasn't aware we were up stairs. I thought that a change of shift might have explained the miscommunication but no, the two same girls were the only two front of house since we arrived. Food was served and we were asked if we would like any sauces and my wife asked for mayonnaise. None came. During the meal, due to the open connection between downstairs and up, conversations could be heard with staff chatting away with a local customer who decided to share her medical history with all, including having lost 3l of blood in childbirth! At no time were we asked if everything was OK with our meals. In fact, no staff appeared upstairs well after we had finished our meal. We decided on finishing with 2 drinks but still, no one showed. Eventually I went down and both staff were just stood behind the counter, one sucking on what appeared to be a vape. I ordered the 2 drinks and went back up to wait. The drinks were delivered and our table only part cleared of the used plates. We expected her to come back and complete clearing the table but no, we had to juggle things around to make room for the 2 drinks. On completion we went down to pay. If service charge isn't included, as in this case, we usually leave a 10% tip. I noticed a tip jar for cash on the counter but the pay machine also offered the customer to include a tip by card. Regretfully, I selected to add a tip. Did I get anything by way of a thank you from either of the staff? NO. In short, these two individuals do not have the skills to do this job correctly- it was as though our presence and patronage was not appreciated. There was no attention to detail or propper waiting on tables. They appeared to have been given the most basic of training and gave the impression they had only been in the job a week or two. My advice? Don't sit upstairs- you will be forgotten. Tourists apparently unwelcome. Next door shop probably missing a trick not selling their cheese scones.”
