About Claudios Restaurant
Claudios Restaurant is a family-run Italian restaurant on Burnside in Moffat, with a 30-year history behind it. The pizzas come with thin, crispy bases, and one meat feast is topped with haggis, which gives the Italian format a local twist. Pasta is made in-house in the form of homemade ravioli, alongside a wider pasta list. Tiramisu and ice cream cover dessert, and a large wine selection is available to go with the meal. The restaurant serves in the evenings, and reservations are required.

Customer Review Summary
Pasta is the main draw, with reviewers naming bolognese and amatriciana in generous portions, plus homemade ravioli, gnocchi and a lasagne described as great tasting. Pizza comes close behind, with thin, crispy bases and a meat feast topped with haggis. A fried mozzarella starter, tiramisu and ice cream also earn praise, and one reviewer mentions the extensive wine selection. Servers are described as friendly, helpful and efficient, and the family-run owner and staff are singled out. The recurring complaint is how busy the place gets. One party had a long wait for a table on a Sunday evening, another got in only by arriving early without booking, and several urge booking well in advance. One Belgian visitor found the local accent hard to follow, though staff kindly explained again, and found the chairs uncomfortable for a long dinner. Several visitors staying in Moffat say they would eat here again.

“The entrance foyer features a quiet reading alcove stocked with cold sparkling water, artisanal teas, and fresh seasonal blooms, creating an atmosphere that feels more like a private residence than a busy commercial office. Gracious hospitality transforms professional errands into pure pleasure. The staff were courteous, alert, and thoroughly professional.”

“Stayed in Moffat for a night and this was one of the few restaurants serving at 7.30pm. We had to wait an hour for a table as I had nievely thought Moffat would be full of places to eat on a Sunday evening. However when the food arrived it was worth the wait. Starter (fried mozzarella) was delicious and the two pasta dishes we had (bolognase and amatricana - excuse my spellings) were superbly flavoured and came in generous portions. I hadn't imagined i would have one of my best Italian meals in the UK in a small town in Scotland. Alongside the food was great service from the owner and his staff. Well worth a visit, but make a reservation as this place is busy for a great reason - superb food and value.”

“What a lovely place! Food is great, especially pasta but pizza is also delicious. Service is top level, super friendly, helpful and professional. I am not surprised the place is busy since they open! We were lucky to came after 5 without booking but 20 min later we wouldn’t have a place. Desserts menu was also great, I had tiramisu, which was amazing, ice cream were also amazing quality. I would totally recommend if you are in Moffat! But do book in advance, worth it :)”

“Claudio’s Moffat is a wonderful choice for authentic Italian food, with a menu that combines traditional favourites with fresh, carefully prepared ingredients. The pizzas have thin, crispy bases with delicious toppings, while the homemade ravioli, gnocchi and pasta dishes offer plenty of flavour. I especially like the variety of seafood, meat and vegetarian options. The rustic Italian flavours and extensive wine selection make the dining experience feel special. A lovely family-run restaurant for anyone looking for quality Italian food in Moffat.”
