Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the cakes and freshly baked cinnamon rolls, with one calling the rolls the best they have tasted and another recommending them. Close behind is the full English and the avocado plate, both described as generous portions, along with a jerk chicken sandwich on ciabatta, pancakes with syrup, bacon and peanut butter, and milkshakes served in a jar. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and attentive, and several mention sitting outside, one with a dog. The complaints are specific. One reviewer found the full English disappointing, with a barely grilled half tomato, greasy bread and Fable Beans that did not suit the plate, and parts of a QR-code order came out wrong. Another was told dogs are allowed only outside and was not allowed to look at the cakes indoors. A third found the choice limited because stock was being run down before a menu change. Food took a while during the rollout of QR ordering, though one reviewer said they were warned on arrival. One Mother's Day afternoon tea arrived quickly with plenty of food.

“First time here for me after visiting the (sadly now dead) Major Oak nearby with my daughter and family who live in the region. Whilst the food and service were good, the choice was very limited as the menu was about to change, so they had run down stock. I had the jerk chicken sandwich on ciabatta, accompanied by a side salad and crisps. A good size and very tasty. Service was also friendly and efficient. Sat outside, so can't comment on the interior.”

“Lovely place. Cycled here from Sherwood Pines campsite, sat outside & relaxed for a couple of hours 2 days running. Recommend the freshly baked cinnamon rolls.”

“Lovely place, but unfortunately dogs only allowed outside. Website states no dogs allowed inside due to lack of space. There is plenty of space. I wasn't allowed to even look at the cakes inside, the reason stated was that people were eating! Luckily my friend could stay outside with my extremely clean, well behaved small dog whilst I looked at the cakes. Would love to go back and try more of their lovely cakes but probably will not be able too unless I have someone with me.”

“I absolutely love Fables, it has been a frequent spot for me and friends since moving to the area a few years ago. The standard of food is incredible and it’s clear the chefs and staff have a lot of pride in what they do. The cakes are to die for and they sell the best cinnamon rolls I have ever tasted, I will often pop in just to get one I love the seasonal menu changes as well as the beautiful decor. There’s a reason this place is always so busy but everything is always 100% worth the wait Love love love!!!”

“What a great find in the village. Staff were friendly and the food was amazing! The milkshakes come in a jar and was nice and thick. The pancakes were divine and although pancakes with syrup, bacon and peanut butter sounds a bit weird, it tastes great! Definitely a good place to try!”
