About Richmond Tea Rooms
Richmond Tea Rooms is a tea room in Manchester, at 46 Sackville St, where afternoon tea follows an Alice in Wonderland theme with Mad Hatter's Tea Party styling and floral decoration. The scones are tea-infused and arrive with cream and jam. Afternoon tea comes in a savoury version and as a queen's tea with sandwiches, scones and sweets. The tea list is made up of loose teas, and a bag of tea can be bought to take home. The cups and plates on the tables are decorative. The menu also covers lighter meals, including homemade potato and leek soup, and cakes are part of the offer too. Group bookings such as baby showers and hen parties are taken, with reservations made in advance.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the Alice in Wonderland setting, describing it as a fairy tale with floral decoration, beautiful cups and plates, and details in every corner. Afternoon tea comes next, with the savoury version called delicious and generous, the queen's tea praised for freshly made sandwiches, and tea infused scones with cream and jam singled out as especially moist and flavourful. The strawberry tea and a large pot of Earl grey with free refills also earn mentions. Cakes draw praise too, notably the coffee and walnut and the carrot cake, while the biscoff cake was found slightly dry. Another reviewer called the cakes quite sweet but enjoyed them. Among lunch dishes, the potato and leek soup, cheese and onion pie and sweet potato fries are liked, though the sourdough was called average. One reviewer was disappointed the tea they loved was not available to buy. Groups report smooth handling, including a baby shower where all 12 orders arrived at the same time and a hen party of 21 that went perfectly.

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A wonderful Alice in Wonderland experience 🌹🫖♥️ I absolutely loved my visit to Richmond Tea Rooms. From the moment I arrived, the beautiful floral decoration and the Alice in Wonderland atmosphere made the whole experience feel very special. A huge thank you to George and Max, who were absolutely lovely. They were attentive, friendly and took the time to give me recommendations and advice, which made my visit even more enjoyable. I really appreciated their suggestions and the care they took in helping me choose the right afternoon tea for my tastes. Their recommendation of the savoury afternoon tea was perfect for me, as I much prefer savoury food. It was delicious, beautifully presented and incredibly generous — so generous, in fact, that as one person I couldn’t manage even half of it! The strawberry tea was fantastic 🍓🫖. I enjoyed it so much that I ended up buying a bag of tea to take home with me, so I can continue enjoying a little piece of the experience at home. The setting itself is gorgeous, filled with flowers and wonderful little details inspired by Alice in Wonderland. If I could make just one little wish, it would be to see a little more of the Queen of Hearts throughout the décor. ♥️👑 She is such an iconic character, and I would absolutely love to see her have a stronger presence. Thank you again to George and Max for the wonderful recommendations, the excellent service and for making the whole experience so enjoyable. Overall, it was a fantastic and memorable experience: beautiful surroundings, delicious food, wonderful tea and genuinely lovely service. I highly recommend and I will definitely be back. 🌹✨ 5⭐️ Thanks a lot”

“This is one of the most magical places in all of England. In my opinion, I have never stepped into such a fairy tale before! This place is totally enchanted and unique, and it stands out greatly in its style from other similar places. We lack such places in England, and for now, this remains my absolute number one. I am totally enchanted and always return there with joy, because there is no other such unique place. From the very moment you cross the threshold, you feel like Alice in Wonderland. Every single detail is meticulously crafted to make you feel like you've entered another magical world. All the decorations, the outfits, everything you see affects you as if you had stepped onto another planet or into some magical garden. There are beautiful cups and plates on the tables. The entire decor is simply magical. When we ordered the tea, it was so delicious that we wanted to buy some, but unfortunately, it wasn't available. However, you can choose other teas that are available for purchase, which is a huge plus. The cakes were quite sweet, but we really enjoyed them, and we will definitely be back here many times to try a different kind of cake or even something else. We are deeply charmed by this place. Recently, we tried to get in here, but there were too many people. That probably means something - that it's always full. And once again, I'll say it at the end: this is a phenomenal place, simply outstanding. Starting right from the entrance, which makes quite an impression - don't the clean doors look stunning? And once you step inside, the real magic begins. Every single minute, at every step, you simply feel that fairy tale come to life 💜”

“Wonderful experience on a very busy Sunday. Staff have impeccable service despite being full. Great understanding of what was available on the menu and the ingredients. Highly recommend the queen's tea for a good sample of freshly made sandwiches, scones, and sweets. Never tasted a scone this moist and with so much flavour, the jam and cream elevated it to next level. I'd give more stars if possible. Very much good value for money. Two hours flew by and was ample time to order and eat, while enjoying time with a friend. A lot of places could learn from Richmond's attention to service and detail.”

“Been looking forward to trying this place on my first trip to Manchester - and wasn’t disappointed. The place is very pretty - themed on Mad Hatters Tea Party from Alice in Wonderland. Had two delicious tea infused scones with cream and jam. Will be back to try one of their cakes!!!”

“Just had a baby shower at Richmond Tea Rooms. The reservation and food orders were easy and organised well in advance of the day. On arrival they helped organise space and areas for presents etc. They couldnt of been more helpful!! They asked if we were ready for food and when we were, the kitchen was well prepared as food arrived a few minutes later. All 12 orders arrived at the same time, some afternoon teas and some from the menu. Overall we had a great afternoon and 100% reccomend to others.”
