  “I came around 2 and there was a decent sized queue. I don’t mind waiting but the staff asked the group at the front how many they are and where they wanted to sit. They only wanted to sit inside which was a 10-15 minute wait. The rest of the queue then had to wait for this party to be seated even though there were empty seats outside and the majority of the people in the queue were happy to sit outside. I ordered the Soul cheese toasty which is a 3 cheese blend with sourdough. It was crispy and the bread was great quality. In my opinion the cheese its self was a bit lacking, there wasn’t that much of it and the flavour was quite subtle. After the server brought my food they asked if I wanted any dips, I asked for mayo to which they offered garlic and herb instead as they didn’t have mayo. It was not clear here that this was a dip that would be charged for, I feel this should have been clarified for an additional £1.5. That said, the garlic and herb dip was delicious and really added to the toasty. Overall I’m not sure if I would come back again. I think the staff were just overwhelmed as there were a lot of people but for the price I don’t think the quality was there for me.”

  “I came here with the intention to order and take away, however was met with wonderful manchester charm and ended up seated on the terrace with a pickle margarita! perfect accompaniment with my grilled cheese with extra pickles. the food was superb!, hot, fresh, cheesy, all you could want. I was impressed to see there are fun non-alcoholic drinks like lemonades and spritzes, but the pickle marg was delicious! The energy from all the staff was uplifting and perfect for my solo saturday date day! thank you all!”

  “I’ve walked past Northern Soul Manchester many times over the years and always thought it looked like a cool spot, but never stopped by - well today that changed and I’m so glad too. My experience - attentive, friendly and enthusiastic service from Nay and his colleagues, a tasty toasty packed with cheese pulls, served with a gigantic biscoff shake which knocked my shake connoisseur socks off, what more could I have asked for. I’ll be seeing you again soon Northern Soul Mcr.”

  “If you are looking for a grilled cheese sandwich on speed then this is your place. Various varieties of grilled cheese await but that’s not all. The fried chicken sandwiches are a sight to behold. I went for the lamb kebab grilled cheese and it was fantastic. My pal went with the BBQ pork which also got the thumbs up. We also went with a side of carbonara tater tots which on the one hand were delicious but in my opinion not £9.50 worth of delicious! Service was lovely and our two lovely waitresses were attentive and super chatty. Both were ready with helpful recommendations. We sat outside which was fine. I’m glad I went as an experience but now I must go and get a refill on my statins! Bill was £56 with tip for two grilled cheese. One tater tots a beer and a cider. We left full and glad for the experience.”

  “Menu is good. Not extensive like other places. We ordered the chicken burger and the New Yorker with a side of buffalo hot wings. Waitress was lovely. Food was amazing. Would definitely go back!”

  “Well aware of the delays for trains that go from Stoke to Manchester, I set off extra early, in order to attend a special screening at HOME cinema. Having skipped breakfast, I looked for a place to go and eat, and saw a large poster with a picture of a toasted sandwich. Since visiting the venue for the first time years ago, Northern Soul has continued to make absolutely superb sandwiches. From the outside, Northern Soul has a number of stalls and tables, where people can enjoy the food and drink on sunny days. On the inside, the shop has a mix of chairs and long benches. The backdrop has a wonderfully stylish American Diner- inspired appearance. After receiving a friendly welcome from the staff, I was given two menus. The first menu has a wide- ranging list of drinks ( from cocktails, beers and wine, to soft peach iced tea, hot drinks and milkshakes.) The second menu covered all the food, from the fries, sides, soup, Mac & cheese and tenders, to the current Specials and the "Classic ' line -up of sandwiches. On this visit, I went for a hot drink and the Kim - Cheese, with the addition of fried chicken. Made at the shop, the sourdough has a fantastic texture. Created from three cheeses, the cheese blend has a terrific cheese pull, with the variety of cheese giving the melted cheese a fantastic depth. From each delightful bite, the determination of the staff to create the best sandwiches in Manchester shines through, with the chicken having a delicious crunch, and the kimchi giving the sandwich an aromatic quality. As I took a look at the distinctive neon sign whilst leaving, I smiled, thanks to having just had a taste of Northern Soul.”

  “Travelled for this place and worth every mile. Portions were amazing, food was so tasty and it was all held together by Shannon, our server. Nothing was too much trouble, Shannon was super friendly and attentive without being in our faces while enjoying the food. Shannon, if you read this - you are indeed, that girl, thank you so much!   “Despite having visited Manchester countless times, this was my first visit to Northern Soul, and I was not disappointed. The staff were lovely, attentive but not overbearing, and very helpful. Service was fast and flawless too. I had The Soul, Buffalo chicken fries, and an ice cold Coke, and I’m still thinking about them now! It was hard to decide what to order, because so many things on the menu sounded delicious, but that just means I’ll have to go back again and try some other things too. I’ll definitely be recommending Northern Soul to others, and I’ll be back again soon!”
