Customer Review Summary

Beef is what reviewers return to most, from the beef rib and the grilled beef galbi with its sweet and savory marinade to a beef short rib stew and grilled beef plates called tasty. Close behind is the chicken japchae, described as smoky with chewy noodles, along with the bibimbap with gochujang served on the side, a tteokbokki with a thick sauce, and a yukhoe one diner found fantastic. Staff are repeatedly called lovely and friendly, portions generous, and the homemade ginger ice cream and soju cocktails earn praise. The complaints centre on side dishes. Two reviewers found the seafood pancake not crispy, one calling it mush, and that same reviewer described overly salted pickles, rock solid re-fried wings, and a seafood stir fry that tasted cheaply made. Others note a budae jjigae that was salty until water was added and kimchi that was under-fermented. One diner whose table received the wrong dish had it replaced and was not charged for the mistake.

“For more food reviews, check out my Instagram @eathiyah___ (with 3 underscores) First we got the Chicken Japchae (£10.90). OMG. As a japchae lover, i 1000% approve 😭 Guys i’ve tried sooo many korean restaurants across the UK, from the north to the midlands and down south and this place has the best Japchae in the UK. It had that proper smoky flavor, so i’m guessing they cooked it over a wok. The noodles were chewy, the chicken was juicy, and everything was seasoned so well Then we had the Grilled Beef Galbi (£12.90). SO GOOD. The marinade really soaked into the meat. The balance between sweet and savory was just perfect. It wasn’t overly sweet like some galbi i’ve had before Next was the Tteokbokki (£9). The rice cakes were super chewy and the sauce was thick (thank god not watery). They also gave a good balance of fish cakes, veggies, and tteok, so it wasn’t just a plate full of rice cakes Also had the Beef Bibimbap (£10.20). One thing I liked was they served the gochujang on the side instead of mixing it in for you, so you could add as much or as little as you want We also shared the Budae Jjigae (£29), which comes with spam, sausages, noodles, tofu, kimchi… basically everything. It was a bit salty at first, but once we added some water it was much better ★ Rating: 4.2/5 ★ Trust me when i say they KNOW how to cook. I’ve been to manchester so many times and can’t believe i only found this place now. I honestly think it’s so underrated. Maybe they just don’t market themselves enough bcs this place deserves way more hype”

“Pancakes (the one with the dipping sauce) should be crispy, like a thicker indian dosa. This is crap. Mush, like a raw toad in a hole batter. The first picture showing here is probably the spicy stir fry seafood. It’s from a mixed seafood bag and loads of veggies (80%) - again cheaply made. The assorted pickles were £9.5 which I got for my friends just for the flavours, you would never have to pay at a decent Korean place. You can tell they are the overly salted chinese ones and yes they did not taste good. We got wings too but they definitely re-fried them, so they were rock solid and tasted bad. Would not recommend.”

“My friend recommended this restaurant before,so I came here to give it a try. High recommend No.55 Beef Rib!!! It tastes so good! No.24 squid and pork BBQ tastes good as well! I really like the sauce! No.11 seafood pancake is quite normal, not crispy. Overall, it’s a nice Korean restaurant with lovely staff 👍”

“This was the first proper Korean bbq restaurant I’ve been too and was blown away and always come back. I always thought if Korean bbq in Manchester is this good, how good will it be in Korea. After trying several restaurants in Korea, one michellin rated, and ordering the same food I can safely say that koreana is still the best”

“A really lovely little Korean restaurant in the city centre. I was really impressed with the pork belly bulgogi, though I would’ve liked more ssamjang with it - and I had to order a side of diced garlic (and was charged for it). The kimchi was a little under-fermented for my liking, but the Yukhoe was fantastic and I’d definitely recommend trying that out.”
