  “**RESPONSE TO BEN BELOW** My partner and I ordered a takeaway meal for us and our two friends. The cost was a little over £100 for 4 x soups, 4 x main dishes and 4 portions of rice, which is a fair price. However, the portion sizes were very small. We called the restaurant and spoke with a guy called Ben (I think he is the manager). The food was fine (to taste), which we tried to note during our call but this information fell on deaf ears as Ben defensively homed in on our complaint regarding portion size versus cost. Hospitality is getting hit hard, we appreciate that and we do our best to support local eateries. We paid good money for food, and by doing so, we have the right to leave an honest review based on our very upsetting experience. Will not return. RESPONSE TO BEN: My name is Debbie Smith, you spoke with my partner, and his name is not Debbie Smith.. hence why you don't remember speaking to a Debbie Smith. I note you 'normally have issues with portion sizes being too big' I honestly can't see anyone raising 'issues' over too much food, and, that doesn't match 'some' reviews on Google or Trip Advisor. In addition, it is very poor business acumen to over face people with food. Scientific studies show that when people are presented with too much food, they over eat, which starts unhealthy relationships with food. It can also result in food waste, which could damage your profit margins as you will be forced to increase prices to account for such food wasted. Word of mouth is a very powerful marketing tool. As a gift for your 21st anniversary, I promise to spread the word far and wide that customer satisfaction/retaining repeat custom isn't a priority of yours. ;)”

  “The Chilli Banana is a very nice Thai Restaurant with comfortable seating and an extensive menu. The resteraunt was almost empty when we visited but it was early just after 6pm. We had good service as expected and our meals were first class. We will call again when next we visit Macclesfield.”

  “We had a wonderful dinner here in Macclesfield. Everything we ordered arrived beautifully presented and tasted just as good as it looked. The green curry was a particular standout, topped with a fresh leaf and a vibrant chili. The atmosphere was pleasant and the wooden tables added a nice, rustic touch to the dining experience. We were especially impressed by the skewers, which were served with a lovely dipping sauce and crunchy side salad. It is a fantastic spot for anyone looking for a high-quality meal in a relaxed setting.”

  “*in reply to my previous review* Thank you for your response, but it appears you may not have fully read my review. Firstly, I did give your team the opportunity to address one of the issues during my visit. As the starter arrived cold, I sent it back, so it is incorrect to suggest that you were not given the chance to resolve concerns while I was there. Secondly, the cold starter was only one aspect of what was ultimately a disappointing experience. My review also highlighted that the main course was average and lacked flavour, particularly given the prices charged. Your response does not address this point at all. Most importantly, the primary reason for my dissatisfaction was the service towards the end of the meal. We were made to feel rushed so staff could close for the evening, despite still being dining. This created an uncomfortable atmosphere and left us feeling more like an inconvenience than valued customers. While I appreciate you taking the time to respond, your reply focuses almost entirely on the starter and on the claim that you were not given an opportunity to resolve issues during the visit. Neither of these points addresses the main concerns raised in my review regarding food quality, value for money, and feeling rushed out before we had finished our meal. Honest feedback is only useful when it is properly considered, and unfortunately your response suggests that the key issues I raised have been overlooked.”

  “Outstanding meal, delicious chicken satay, pork skewers, green Thai curry and sticky rice. The penang’s were the best we had ever had and they had lots of meat in them. Service was wonderful too, they kept the place perfectly warm.”

  “Great place, bit hard to find the entrance since there’s another name on the door. Super quick service, app was really easy to use and food was delicious. I didn’t quite enjoy the coriander seeds on the chicken satay but that is personal preference. The peanut sauce was so good, and the cucumber pickles were nice but didn’t expect them to be sweet! The pad thai was amazing, a little sweet for my taste but still really good. I ordered takeout and when I got to eating the noodles were still chewy which was such a bonus, would’ve expected them to be super soft and in a brick. Prawn crackers are also always a plus. Would go back when I have a craving for thai!”

  “Have been coming to Chilli B since 2007, spending thousands at this establishment, introduced lots of people and up until recently I’ve always enjoyed the food and service. Unfortunately the food quality seems to have dropped (ie cheaper cuts of meat), the food no longer tastes the same and quality has gone downhill- for a green curry and rice at £20+ this is far too expensive, The main menu has very high prices which makes it difficult to justify eating here, the lunch menu deal is handy but again let down by food quality. The service charge automatically printed on the receipt drives the bill up, again another expense and inconvenience as its embarrassing to have to ask for it to be removed. I understand the restaurant industries have been hit hard in these past few years but so has everything else. EDIT - thanks for replying to some of my review a month later. I believe that providing good service and quality food shouldn't require prompting from the customer. A seamless dining experience should be the standard, not something that needs to be pointed out when it falls short (especially with the prices you charge). Just to clarify, it's not my responsibility to instruct your chefs on how to prepare their dishes. I shared my feedback because I feel that it's important for businesses to know when they miss the mark. Hopefully, this helps to improve the experience for future guests.
