About The Beck
The Beck is a restaurant on Quebec Rd in Mablethorpe, built around a carvery that is on offer at every sitting. Diners choose from beef, lamb, pork, turkey and gammon, on a small or standard plate, with two meats on the standard plate. Roast potatoes, crackling, gravy and a range of sauces come alongside, as do cauliflower cheese and mixed vegetables. Big Yorkshire puddings are self-serve. Pizzas also feature on the menu, including a 10-inch chicken pizza for children, and cherry crumble sits among the desserts. Dogs are not allowed in the bar or restaurant, but they can join their owners on the decking, where fresh water is provided. Tables can be reserved.

Customer Review Summary
Most reviewers come for the carvery, praising the melt-in-your-mouth beef and turkey, big crispy Yorkshires, crackling, roast potatoes and the sauces and gravy. Diners call the portions generous, describe the food as hot, which one says is rare for a carvery, and repeatedly describe the prices as reasonable. Close behind is the staff, described as friendly and hard working, with one server singled out as second to none. A cherry crumble gets a mention, as do a seafood platter, ranch burger and sizzling chicken ordered outside. The caveats are a few. One reviewer found the vegetables bland and the cauliflower cheese lacking, and another felt slightly invisible to staff on a busy Sunday. The sharpest complaint is a Father's Day meal where the BBQ ribs were dry and tough, the sauce tasted cheap, and the children's chicken pizza was rubbery. The manager offered only a free dessert because some food had been eaten.

“Good service. Very friendly and welcoming even though we ordered about £100 in takeaway as they were closing and they didn’t mind at all. Also food was banging. And made very quickly. We took it back to a hotel, and it was still hot and tasted very good. I could see why they was busy the whole day. A Special Thank you to Simon who took our order and explained the menu items very well. Made us appreciate the areas a bit more as we’ve come from Leicester for a little vacation to the beach for two days, and a lot of other places were not as friendly, so to say. So just a big thank you to all staff here at The Beck, and another big on to Simon. He’s a top man - absolute legend. Thank you guys for taking such good care of us”

“Ate our dinner there last night and I would just like to say how lovely it was, I had the carvery. The waitress who looked after us was second to none, she couldn’t do enough so a big shout out to Sam. All in all a truly wonderful experience and next time we come here again on our hols we will definitely be calling again 🙂”

“The food was really good, we ordered 2 standard carverys, spaghetti bolognese, a Jackson pizza and a veggie deluxe pizza. The staff were all really friendly and the prices very reasonable. Would recommend.”

“Visited whilst on holiday and genuinly had the best carvery we have ever had. Great selection of meats and a pie, great veg and potatoe options. Food was all hot which is rare with a carvery. Alfie was brilliant, we told him how great it was and he passed our message onto Maggie the chef, who even came out to say to say hello and thankyou! Such a lovely team, lovely food, and very decent prices. Wish we lived near by as would definitely be here all the time!”

“I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was genuinely one of the most disappointing meals I’ve had in a long time. If you value good food and even remotely decent quality, I would strongly recommend avoiding this place. It honestly felt like the menu caters solely to people with no expectations beyond basic fish and chips. The beef was passable at best, but the BBQ ribs were shockingly poor — incredibly dry, tough, and completely lacking in quality. Even drowning them in the BBQ sauce did nothing to improve them, and unfortunately the sauce itself was unpleasant and tasted cheap and overly processed. We ordered two full portions of ribs, and despite arriving hungry, barely managed to eat 20% of them because they were simply that bad. The children’s 10-inch chicken pizza was equally disappointing — rubbery, bland, and had the texture of something reheated multiple times rather than freshly prepared. My partner described the chicken burger as “okay,” which was probably the only remotely acceptable thing we ordered, and even that was far from impressive. What made the experience worse was the way the complaint was handled. I spoke with Sam, the manager, and was told that because some of the food had been eaten, the only resolution they could offer was a free dessert. Considering we had only eaten parts of the meal because we arrived hungry and had already paid for it, this response felt dismissive and completely inadequate. To sum it up: an extremely underwhelming Father’s Day meal, poor food quality across almost every dish, and disappointing customer service to match. We left frustrated enough that I ended up going elsewhere afterwards because the meal had been so unenjoyable. A genuinely frustrating and deeply disappointing experience. I would not return.”
