Diners most often single out the local beer selection as a standout, praising its breadth in an area where they say it’s rare, with many also returning for the mussels served with plenty of sauce. Close behind are the burgers and steak and ale pie, noted as made with locally sourced beef, and the Sunday roast, described as cooked to perfection. Several highlight the live music, calling the band excellent and the atmosphere it creates brilliant. The pub is repeatedly called dog friendly, with owners appreciating that their pets are welcomed inside. A recurring complaint centers on slow service, with one group waiting an hour for starters despite reminders and another noting billing errors that required correction.

“The staff here were amazing. We had asked to have a table for two with a dog and toddler and a visable view of the Rugby. They were more than accommodating, we were 30 mins late and they still proceeded to seat us in an area we requested. Throughout the evening they were friendly and accommodating despite being busy for Valentine's weekend. We highly recommend both the food and the high level of service. Thank you Joe for being so kind.”

How this listing is sourced
- Where the data comes from
- Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
- How it stays current
- Every listing is re-checked on a recurring crawl, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
- How it is ranked
- Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
