About Tom's Lyme Regis

Tom's Lyme Regis is a family-run seafood restaurant on Marine Parade in Lyme Regis, where every table has a view over the beach and out to sea. The kitchen works from 38 dishes and changes them with the seasons, drawing on local produce. Shellfish leads the starters, with Portland Pearl Oysters served with dressings, Lyme Bay Hand Dived Scallops and the Lyme Bay Crab Croquetta. Lobster appears as a main and also on a surf and turf plate. Diners who prefer something classic can choose a fish platter or fish and chips, and desserts follow. Visiting boats can reach the restaurant from the guest pontoon on a 10-minute walk.

Customer Review Summary

Lobster is the dish diners raise most, described as perfectly cooked, delicious and big enough to win over one doubtful diner. Scallops come close behind, called a good size and fantastic, followed by oysters with lovely dressings, croquettes, a fish platter, sea bass and fisherman's stew. Reviewers repeatedly call the seafood fresh, praise friendly, quick service, and single out the desserts and cocktails. The sea view gets frequent mention, with one noting every table has it. Criticism is limited to two reviews. One diner found a surf and turf fillet very well done, sent it back and got it well done again. The lobster was better but covered in dark green stuff, and the steak was not charged for. Another, celebrating an anniversary, sat at an outdoor table in rain with the awning not covering the area, and the uneven decking meant spooning butter from the plate into a bowl.

“Stunning food. The quality of ingredients used is apparent. We had scallops followed by sea bass which were fantastic. Generous portions. Great service and a great location”

“What a great choice. Food was fabulous. My wife was unsure about the lobster at 1st, more about how big it would be. But the size was well worth £80 she was very happy. Scallops were a good size and the dessert was amazing. All the staff were great. Thank you Tilly and Imogen will be back.”

“I had a fantastic lunch at Tom’s, I had 2 of their oysters which came with lovely dressings. I also had a burrata salad which was lovely and their warm breadsticks aswell. Millie was a lovely server and made sure I had everything i needed! I really reccomend lunch here!”

“I ordered the surf & turf at £80. The cook has a real problem being able to cook a fillet medium rare. It turned up very well done. I sent it back and it came back well done. Gave up on the steak and told the waitress to tell the cook it's still not good. The lobster was better but covered in some dark green stuff. The rest of the plate was salad leaves and chopped cabbage I think. The chips were fine. Not a good plate tbh. I didn't pay for the fillet but the bill for 2 still came in at a hefty £148 of which £46 was a bottle of rose. The view over the bay is excellent though.”
