Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the friendly, accommodating staff, who listened to requests and did exactly as asked. Window seats looking over the sea and the fossil shops come up repeatedly, along with a great atmosphere with history. Among the food, the homemade mushroom soup with warm bread and a mature cheddar panini is called out of this world, and cream teas with scones are close behind. Others praise a large Full English, which one diner calls possibly the best in Lyme Regis, plus mussels in a creamy sauce, whitebait and scampi in generous portions, and chunky, crispy seaside chips. One reviewer found the fish and chips portion small. The main complaint concerns the facilities: one of the two toilets was out of action, and the working one had only an emergency light and a seat that did not fit the pan. Another reviewer notes it gets busy at peak times. One diner describes staff immediately seating a wife struggling in the heat and bringing a fan and iced water.

“Great location. Indoor and outdoor seating. Will get busy during peak times. Fish and chips small portion but good quality. Cream teas and nice selection of cakes. Also does a good looking breakfast.”

“Tea cake was ok, pot of tea was good. Sadly didn't get 5 stars as tea pot had a previous customer Green's on it and of the two toilets one was out of action. The one in action only had an emergency light, so no light, the toilet seat doesn't fit the pan and there was toilet paper on the floor.”

“A lovely meal but important exceptional customer service. Came in yesterday on a very hot day and the wife was not looking good. Staff immediately got her seated and got a fan and iced cold water. Thank you. She left in a lot healthier condition. X”

“The scones and scampi were really good, the chips were amazing sea side chips chunky crispy and soft in the middle with great service and help. Definitely would recommend if you want a lunch time feast”

“The thing that stood out for us having a cream tea here this morning on Sunday, was number one, the position overlooking the sea and the Jurassic coastline but more over the friendly welcome and excellent service we received from the staff, Who listened to everything we would like and did exactly as we requested, which sadly doesn’t often happen these days. would like to extend our warmest thanks and the best wishes for the ongoing summer season.”
