About Gipsy Hill Brewing Company - Taproom

Gipsy Hill Brewing Company - Taproom is a microbrewery taproom at 160 Hamilton Rd in London, directly opposite the brewery and a short walk from Gipsy Hill Station. Beer on tap comes in pints and half-pints, with Hepcat Session IPA and Bandit Pale Ale among the house beers and guest beers from other small breweries alongside them. Wine, spirits and low and no alcohol options are also stocked. The bar sells only crisps and packeted snacks, so food comes from rotating street food vendors and from Yard Sale Pizza, which sends orders to the taproom free every day. The space is industrial in style, set on a small industrial estate, with long tables and board games and cards to play. The EAA Run Club meets every Thursday evening, and selected sporting events show on the big screen. The taproom is open Wednesday to Sunday and closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often point to the Hepcat Session IPA, with one calling it their favourite and another guessing it is the signature beer. The Bandit Pale Ale and a lager with fruity notes of melon also draw praise. Diners like the guest beers too, including those from other small breweries, and describe beer served ice cold and as fresh as it gets. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and helpful, and one reviewer finds them knowledgeable. The space earns credit for long tables suited to board games and cards, an industrial chic look, and a welcome for families and large groups. The main drawback is seating. One reviewer says it is a victim of its own success and can be hard to find a seat, and another found it packed on a weekend. Food is limited to bar snacks, so several reviewers order Yard Sale Pizza with free delivery, and one calls it a perfect pairing with the pints.

“Unreal beers, in the heart of south London. We locked in for a few pints. Plenty of long tables to chill with friends, play board games or cards. Great place for families as well as large groups. We didn’t get Yard Sale Pizza but saw many being delivered. All in all, great venue / a must for anyone local and travelling.”

“Best place to drink in South London? Quite possibly. Beer won't get much fresher, and it always has a nice vibe. Possibly a victim of its own success and can be difficult to find a seat, but it's great. The beer is great, service is good too”

“Favourite local spot of ours. Really great beer options, staff are always friendly and helpful. They don’t have any food beyond snacks but you can order Yard Sale which is a prefect pairing with the pints”

“Being a long time fan of Gypsy Hill Brewery, it was amazing to be able to visit their taproom after a visit to Crystal Palace Park. Its easily accessible from Gypsy Hill Station and located inside a small industrial estate, but there's plenty of signage. There are lots of bar snacks on offer (we're talking crisps and other packeted stuff) and when we were there, there were a couple of food trucks outside, but the main attraction must be the beers. Their Hepcat Session IPA is my favourite beer, and their Bandit Pale Ale was also incredible. There are lots of guest beers and other bevvies on offer. The taproom is large and there are plenty of seats inside and out. There are restrooms as well. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Totally recommended, and also worth a detour, for some of the best beers to be found in London.”

Good to know

“Located about a 5-minute walk from Gipsy Hill Station, our Taproom is based directly opposite the brewery and is our hub of all things Gipsy Hill Brewing. Expect the freshest of our beers on draft alongside guest cask, wine, spirits and plenty of lo/no alcohol options. We’ve got fridges stocked with all the latest releases from Gipsy Hill, as well as some of our favourite guest breweries. Local street food vendors rotate on-site, plus free delivery from Yard Sale Pizza every day. We show selected sporting events on our big screen and host a weekly EAA Run Club on Thursday evenings from 7pm, plus a ton of events on-site.”
