About West End Cafe

West End Cafe is a breakfast and lunch cafe at 17 Broad St in Llandovery, serving breakfast all day. The breakfast menu includes a "dragons breakfast" and a lighter version with bacon, sausage, egg, mushrooms, tomato, beans and toast. A breakfast bap with fried potato is also on offer. Beyond breakfast, the menu covers light bites, full meals and cakes, so the place works as a cafe, a pastry shop and a restaurant in one. Homemade cake and homemade lemonade sit alongside the hot food. Guests order and pay at the counter, and dogs are welcome. Short-stay parking is available right outside.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often point to the breakfast, especially the bacon and egg sarnie, the breakfast bap and the all day breakfast, described as generous, filling and made with thickly cut bacon and proper bakery bread. Close behind are the scampi, which one reviewer called a huge plateful, the minted lamb pie, scotch eggs, homemade lemonade and homemade cake. The cafe is popular with bikers and hikers, and several mention easy parking out front and a shaded courtyard for sitting outside. Friendly staff and clean toilets come up repeatedly. The complaints are real though. One diner found the beef dinner inedible, with slabs of fat, tough meat and barely cooked roast potatoes, served with only blunt butter knives. Another said ordering and paying was slow and disorganised once a queue built, and a few found it a little pricey, with one brunch lacking tea at nearly the cost of a full meal. One reviewer also wished for more vegetarian options. A free sample of toasted roll from the chef is one recalled touch.

“Not a bad brunch, not the best but ok. Nearly £13 and no tea is a bit much though.”

“Great stop in the middle of town, super popular with bikers with plenty of easy parking right out the front. Loads of indoor and out door seating, extensive menu options covering all bases. Homemade lemonade was great. Great value for money, friendly staff, clean toilets. Will definitely stop here again the next time we travel through on the bike.”

“I visited here in 2025 and revisited again in July 2026 and what a difference. In 2025 it was a well run, busy, great food cafe and busy. In 2026. I visited with a 10+ group of motorbikers and it was quiet as we walked in just before lunchtime. Ordering and paying was slow and disorganised even though I was second to be served, it got worse as the queue built up. I ordered the bacon and egg sarnie and the ride leader ordered the scampi. We sat outside in the shaded courtyard which is lovely and being in the middle of the UK heatwave was pleasantly cool. The coffee arrived quickly. In the past they gave you your hot drink at point of payment served by a second person supporting the order taker/cashier. It was very nice coffee. Soon after the food arrived and it was INCREDIBLE. My bacon was flavoursome, thickly cut rashers with a great tasting egg (I suspect farm reared and not battery produced. Who knows, might even have come from a local farm. One can but dream) The bread was proper bakery bread not your mass produced stuff. The ride leader's Scampi was a huge plateful and she didnt manage to eat it all but loved it. Everyone on the group seemed happy so I can only say, go for the grub not the atmosphere and you won't be disappointed”

“This was the first time we've been in the West End Cafe. We were surprised at the size of the place, it's a bit of a tardis. They have a very varied menu, for drinks as well as food. We opted for the lighter choice all day breakfast as we hadn't eaten before we set out on our journey. If this is the lighter version, I'd like to see the larger breakfast. It was generous to say the least with bacon, sausage, an egg, mushrooms, tomato, beans, a few fried potatoes, and a slice of toast, all for £9.95. Coffee was separate, two flat whites at £3.70 each. The cafe was clean and so we're the toilets and there were plenty of customers, which is always a good sign. I'm happy to recommend the West End Cafe.”
