Customer Review Summary

Diners come mainly for pub food, singling out lamb chops cooked medium with chips and gravy, a Sunday roast described as delicious, and fish and chips that one regular found average on a bad day. One reviewer calls the food honest, decent value and cooked on site, while another says it is cheaper than the usual chains. Bar staff are often called friendly, and one reviewer says the bartender remembered a fussy order in full. The criticism is real, though. A funeral wake party found the staff disinterested and rude, the scouse bland with undercooked potatoes, the curry like powder, and glasses and plates left uncleared. Another visitor thought a waitress looked miserable and unfriendly. One reviewer finds the drinks a little pricey and the decor dated and tacky, though the atmosphere is called spot on. One birthday diner arrived after the kitchen had shut, and the staff still cooked a beef lasagna and served cheesecake for pudding.

“Wow we've just had the most gorgeous food here, nearly settled for wethers glad we didn't. Had lamb chops they were cooked perfectly medium, seasoned well and the chips were the best ive had. Even the gravy was next level. Cheap as the usual chains but much higher standards. Will deffo be back thank you!”

“Did not stay in a room we went for my aunts funeral wake. The staff where totally disinterest and rude. The food they served was rushed blad the scouse the potatoes where under cooked and it was bland the curry was like powder. They did not tidy the glasses or plates away Not a very pleasant experience.”
  • Jeremy Thorpe
“Fabulous fine dining at its best. Me and husband Gordon went there and it was lovely. We enjoyed it so much. The food was excellent. I treated Gordon because he works so hard. He works for the council and he is really good to me. Brings me a cup of tea every morning before he goes to work. You couldn't ask for more.”
  • Beverley Nicholson
“Went into the pub for a meal, but found the kitchen had shut. The lady behind the bar, Beverley, asked the chef if there was anything she still had. Lauren stayed on late to cook us both a beautiful beef lasagna ... and if that wasn't enough, we had cheesecake for pudding! Thanks ladies, made a great birthday meal for me, and we really appreciated it. Brilliant service.”
