About Toby Carvery Aintree
Toby Carvery Aintree is a carvery on Grand National Avenue in Liverpool, serving roast meat with roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings on the plate. The breakfast buffet is all you can eat, with sausages, hash browns and bacon, and a pot of gravy sits at the breakfast station beside the brown sauce. A dog-friendly area inside means owners can bring their dogs along for a meal. Tables can be booked in advance, and a wait applies if you arrive without a booking, with a waiting area where guests can sit and eat in the meantime. A bar serves drinks, including shandy. The over 70's meal comes on a smaller plate.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the carvery roast, singling out gorgeous roasties and delicious pork, though one found the roast potatoes inedible and the meat tough and lukewarm, and another called the Yorkshire puddings flat and stodgy. Breakfast splits sharply. Some describe it as hot and fresh, with crispy hash browns and sausages that were not burnt, while others report gravy like tar, dry eggs, missing mushrooms and a delivered breakfast with brick-like bacon. Servers are often called friendly, and one reviewer credits staff who checked allergies and fetched a clean spoon for two grandchildren. Others describe staff chatting instead of working, a bar unsure what a bitter shandy was, and a staff member who shouted across the room that a plate was not an over 70s plate.

“Went for a birthday meal. Has the over 70’s meal. Was told to ask for a small plate, which I did. Then a member of staff shouted across the room “that’s not an over 70’s plate”. I was so embarrassed. She then proceeded to accuse us of not asking for the smaller plate. The food was awful, it was lukewarm, the meat was tough & the roast potatoes were inedible. Will not be returning.”

“Glad to have a carvery for a family meal. Really glad that we were able to be accommodated inside/within Toby Aintree (dog friendly area) even though my mum and dad were having to dog sit for a friend in hospital, and so had a dog with them. Great food, booked a table the day before, but as i say had to adapt due to having dog with us. Thankful to the staff/& availability of dog friendly area”

“Service was amazing. I have two grandchildren with severe allergies. Waitress Lacey made sure we were aware of all the allergies and also Leyton, chef, went and got a clean spoon for us to serve the girls without the fear of any contamination. Great experience.”

“Got told 30 minute wait which was fine as hadn't booked. Then when it was time we were told we could eat in waiting area. I appreciated that as access was better for my mum as more space with having mobility issues. I asked at desk if some one could help with carrying plate and they said yes. This didn't happen as no one at food service area to ask and when I struggled carrying 2 hot plates the person at the desk saw me struggle and walked past me. As we were eating in waiting area we got no table service. One waitress had bad attitude she had long dark hair in a pony. This was when she was in bar area. Staff serving at the bar didn't have a clue what a Bitter was when asked for a bitter shandy. Plus she didn't have a clue on how to hold the glass when pouring resulting head on shandy was 90% of the glass this happened twice. Staff all talking about who had most reviews instead of working. Will never eat there again.”
