About Bunty's Tea Room
Bunty's Tea Room is a small, family-run independent tea room in Lincoln at 18 Steep Hill, where afternoon tea lets each guest choose their own sandwich, scone and slice of cake. Scones come fruit or plain, served with clotted cream and jam, and the sandwiches arrive with crisps and coleslaw as standard. The cake choices include Bakewell cake and carrot cake. Tea is poured from vintage-style teapots into cups and saucers, which suits the vintage British decor of the room. Busy times can mean a short wait outside for a table. Gluten free options are available for guests who need them.

Customer Review Summary
Cake and scones lead the praise at this family-run tea room on Steep Hill, with reviewers singling out the carrot cake, a Bakewell slice packed with jam and almond flakes, and scones served slightly warm with clotted cream and jam. One calls the cake the best they have eaten. Close behind is the welcome, with the owners and staff described as friendly, kind and attentive, and the atmosphere called lovely, calm and like stepping back in time. Others mention a hot chocolate, hot coffee, and a gluten free choice found in abundance. Sandwiches arrive with crisps and coleslaw, and one diner enjoyed beans on toast. The one criticism is space: a reviewer found the room cramped, with a short wait outside before a table was ready. Several plan to return for afternoon tea, where tea comes in a vintage style teapot and guests choose their own sandwich, scone and cake slice. One reviewer left a bag behind, and staff kept it safe.

“I was lucky enough to win an afternoon tea for two in a recent competition. We were very warmly greeted, and given a choice of tables. I liked the fact you choose your own sandwich, scone (fruit or plain) and slice of cake, depending on what you fancy. Tea was served in a beautiful vintage style teapot with cups and saucers. The afternoon tea itself was wonderful. The sandwiches were so fresh, on lovely soft bread, with very generous fillings - simply gorgeous! We opted for fruit scones, which were lovely with lashings of clotted cream and jam. They were slightly warm, and very nice indeed. I ate the Bakewell cake to finish, and it was just divine! Packed with beautiful jam and almond flakes, it was lovely, moist - a truly scrumptious cake (can you tell i have a sweet tooth 🤣) I would definitely recommend the afternoon tea at Buntys. The ladies are so incredibly friendly and kind. And the food is lush! I need to come back and try something else from the menu! 😋 Thank you ladies ❤️”

“Every time I am in or near Lincoln, I have to visit Bunty's Tea Room. The first time I came here was when my wife was in Lincoln County Hospital and this cosy little place was within walking distance. The scones are to die for, but it is the lovely staff and the atmosphere which make this place so special.”

“Came here with my 2 year old grandson, daughter and husband yesterday. Absolutely awesome cafe. We need gluten free and we found it here in abundance. Not only that but the lovely person serving us was so welcoming and incredibly kind. The food was top notch, service fab and it was just a shame we couldn't have stayed longer! Highly recommend - plus massive thankyou for keeping my bag safe when I left it there!”

“I absolutely adore Bunty's and always try and pop in when visiting Lincoln. The atmosphere is immaculate and the food is delicious. It was excellent to see them represented at the 1940's weekend where their sweet treats fuelled the attendees. A must visit for anyone visiting Lincoln.”

“This was such serendipity for me and my friend. We were just trying to get a little snack and stumbled upon this shop/tea room. And it was amazing! I am a tourist in the UK right now, and this was the right place for me. They have a bunch of British decor and the traditional British food. We got the scone with cream and the beans on toast (although a bit unorthodox, it was good!). The vibes here were amazing!”
