About The Arch Cafe & Bistro
In Laurencekirk, The Arch Cafe & Bistro is a restaurant with a wall of cakes at the back, stocked with a wide selection of cakes and desserts. Gluten free options sit among them, so guests avoiding gluten have sweet choices too. The lunch menu covers soups and sandwiches, including a steak baguette with peppercorn sauce and a bacon and black pudding roll. Cullen Skink, a smoked haddock chowder with potatoes, is another dish diners order. Cakes can be eaten in the dining room, and the drinks list pairs coffees such as Americano and latte with Stella.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the cakes, with a wall of them at the back, a wedge of cheesecake, and a custard cream described as moist and crumbly, and one reviewer says they come every Sunday for cakes, with gluten free options noted. Close behind is the Cullen Skink, a smoked haddock chowder with potatoes that two reviewers single out. A steak baguette with peppercorn sauce and a bacon and black pudding roll also draw praise, along with soups, sandwiches and an Americano. Staff are called friendly again and again, and prices are described as fair or reasonable. The one recurring caution concerns demand: one reviewer says they have missed out before because it gets busy and recommends booking in advance, and another was glad to have reserved a table for lunch. Reviewers also mention free WiFi, and one cyclist says staff happily refilled their water bottles.

“Lovely little cafe I didn’t know existed until yesterday. Stopped by while on a cycle and all the staff were incredibly friendly. I had a bacon and black pudding roll with a latte which was all fantastic. Menu looked great but I had limited appetite. There’s a wall of cakes at the back which look great, I had a custard cream which was moist and crumbly. Staff were happy to fill out water bottles up too.”

“Love this place. The steak baguette with peppercorn sauce is an absolute must-try. The cheesecake is pretty awesome too. They get busy and we've missed out before so I would definitely recommend booking in advance. Lovely staff, great food! Can't wait to visit again, highly recommended.”
